Platinum Bamboo Weaving Pens

Sakura FP Gallery

Recommended Posts

Bamboo weaving is an ancient craft that is intimately tied up with Japanese life and tradition. Platinum launched the Izumo Bamboo Weaving pens, a series of fountain pens with a bamboo casing designed according to the traditional bamboo weaving technique, an artform that is intensive and time-consuming.

It took some time before they reached Europe but they finaly arrived. And they look stunning !

This (these, on the site) look(s) lovely, but I am afraid they are out of my price range for now (haven't yet won a lottery)/

I have had the good fortune of trying out one of them during the first shipment available at my local pen shop.

While they carry the Izumo name, the nib is actually the 3776, which is much more to my liking than the president nib. The pen is a light pen and can be posted (which gives a pretty good balance and feel even without a clip). I think the good thing about the bamboo knit is that it adds a bit of ruggedness to the grip, which makes it even more comfortable to hold.

But yes, this pen is definitely not wallet-friendly. But if you can afford the hefty price tag, I would say go for it.
