Cleaning Montblancs

Only my Montblancs give me trouble when flushing and cleaning. No matter what I flush with(water, water and Dawn liquid, various commercial flushes) there is always quite a bit of ink left where the feed meets the barrel. Anyone else experience this? What to do? Thanks.

Hello Steve,

Cool or cold H2O with a splash of ammonia (or sudsy ammonia if you can find it any longer) & a drop of dish detergent. Mix well. Fill & empty the ink chamber several times. Then flush several times with cool water. This method has removed the most persistent ink I've ever had in Montblancs or other fountain pens for that matter. There may be some very faint residual ink stains on the head of the piston, but that won't have any impact on your pen's performance.

Good luck. Enjoy your weekend.

Barry
