Yep, that's with Rohrer & Klingner acrylic based inks.

I have not used acrylic ink in my technical pens, but if I were to try, I'd only use the ones that also say they are safe for air-brushing. Acrylic inks come in a variety of pigment size. Safe to say you only want small enough pigments ☺ Rotring ink also has pigments.

I'd be worried about dried ink, because I tend to use the pens infrequently, but if you clean them well enough I doubt there will be problems.

Not sure if anybody cares, but I dug up a handfull of technical pens which I'd filled with acrylic ink and forgotten about for over a year. I cleaned them by putting them in a glass of water overnight. Then I refilled them. They work just fine. Either I live in a parallel universe, or some of the drama concerning acrylic inks is exaggerated...

Other than hamfisted repair/cleaning attempts by POs, nothing much kills these things... even if the ink is dried to a solid crust, a long spa bath usually loosens the crud enough to allow disassembly without further damage. Best not to force parts to unscrew when it's all gunked up.

 

Still investigating ink options. Latest set came with bottle of MarsMatic for 'paper' ink, it's still sloshing around like liquid. I've only used MarsMatic for 'film' to date... my old bottles, even the unopened ones, have dried to a rattly crust! Translucent bottles, looks like they're 50% solid precipitated.

Higgins India Ink is not causing any problem in my recently rediscovered Mars 700 pen.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who contributed to this topic, I've just come into a vintage set of TG1-S pens and this info has been extremely helpful! Any updates @Teacher Man? It is very interesting that you've managed to avoid the pitfalls of improper ink usage that lots of people seem concerned about!
