Mb Slimline Ballpoint - Refills Available?

Does MB continue to manufacture refills for it older more basic models?

This is stainless and very thin, seems to be thinner than Cross bps.

Because it is so thin, are options in other inks, like Monteverde's refills?

We no longer have an MB Boutique locally, so who & where in Midwest USA has these refills?

Apparently you can adapt the current MB refill to fit the Noblesse/Slimline/SL pens by putting a little bit of wadded paper or of eraser into the hole in the back of the refill so it will extend properly through the front end of the barrel.

Here is a thread with information:

No, but you'll need an adaptor for the contemporary refills which clicks into the end of the refill:

And as Montblanc stopped to distribute these adaptors you have to look at the bay or other places.

And if you've found one DON'T THROW IT AWAY !!!

Thanks for sharing this information, even if disappointing.

It does explain that or want of a refill spacer unit this pen looks new since it wasn't used. Too bad since it's a handsome pen.

Was hoping a company like Schmidt provided an after-market refill. Their caplless is a favorite in my Retro 51 celluloid.

The adaptors are out there, just be vigilant!

That adapter would be a perfect item for measuring and 3-D printing!

It can also be had from fleaBay, but prices for these little plastic doohickeys start at $10 with shipping and go up from there!

Oh I like that idea! If anyone cares to experiment, here's your opportunity to fill a pen community need.

Considering the MB refills seem to be $18-ish US + shipping, & used spacer $10+ + shipping, for now it's a useless ornament taking up space.

Where it twists open is all but invisible. Nicely designed. That's what told me, this is the bp for me. -sigh.

I always use fp's so this thin size would have been a nice every day carry instead of scouting for a skippy cheap bp when that ink is required.

The empty cart is the Riesenmine.

The adapters are reusable and probably take a rather long time to wear out. So buying one for $10 doesn't seem too crazy. The MB website refill prices are a little high, but there are some older refills available on eBay that come with the adapter, for about $20. Personally, it would drive me crazy to have a non-working pen...

I will need one for a Slimline BP someday, but I go through ballpoint refills very slowly.

I'm just glad that Schmidt is still able to make the "mini" refills (type D) that fit Montblanc's (and everyone else's) four-color pens.

Thanks again for encouraging me to persist.

Except for a few impractical ringtops & low end LE's, I use my pens, so the only reason I added this slimline was to be my in the field user ballpoint - my retro 51 is the desk version, no cap.

I did look at the bay, but saw nothing. If you have the time, would you PM an example so I can zero in on the listings for refill with adapter?

Still think the 3D printer adapter is nifty idea aka fun challenge (cheery smile).

  • 2 weeks later...

Appreciate your information!

Business has kept me too busy to search & commit to a bay buy.

Wondering, since Michigan has a fair amount of pen world interest, if anyone or a shop in Lansing (East) might have a refill & adapter?

Passing through this weekend.

This forum is always busy, so it's possible :-) if I don't ask I may literally pass by the best opportunity.
