New M205 Clear Demonstrator For 2018.

...

My problem with clear pens is that they tend to look cheap. ...

I did not buy the M805 demonstrator for the same reason. I was worried the plastic might look cheep. On a TWSBI 580, sure but on a pen that costs 10x as much (m805)? I was going to get it with the engravings so at least it was demonstrating something ;)

On good thing about them is being able to see your ink color.

I really like my M805 demo but rarely use it 🤔

Looks like the M205's may be starting to roll into overseas vendors shops. Should see them shipping soon if that's the case.

PELIKAN - Too many birds in the flock to count. My pen chest has proven to be a most fertile breeding ground.

A perfect backup for my 'Japanese' market special edition M205 transparent demonstrator from a few lustrals back...

I can even swatch the finial rings between this model and my M215 'Rings' fountain pen to maintain the look of the old versions of the 'Classic' series.

Now they've just got to keep that trend and reissue the M415!!!

What is this Japanese market M205 demo?

On the Hunt For:

1) Atelier Simoni ID Demonstrator Natural Rhodium (As if it existed.)

2) Moresi 2nd Limited Edition Delta Demonstrator

3) y.y. Pen Club #4 and #10

Yes, but with a Pelikan logo on it. It would be very special water, and totally limited

+1 my sentiments on the clear demo. At least with the colored ones you are buying colored plastic. Wish I could bring myself to get one, but I'm with Ruth on this.

Bic have had a demonstrator ball pen for many years now so I really can't get excited about this one from Pelikan.

One of my daily use pens for over two years now is an M200, mostly equipped with a 1.1 mm italic nib, oftentimes with shimmer inks. It sure does not look cheap and it sure can take a beating.

As I like to have my pens come in pairs I am really tempted to get the M205. OCD as I am I think it would match silver shimmer inks better than the M200 with the gold trim. Uh, there I said it, now I need it.

The same M205 clear demonstrator released almost a decade ago, but with the finial ring and all the inner mechanical parts in black, as all the Classic line pens were released:

$129 USD at Massdrop, presumably plus shipping. Not an earth shattering price, but not bad. An ebay seller has it for $119 but if I understand correctly, needs $20 for shipping from Taiwan.

It's free shipping to USA from Massdrop on that one, but it's an extra $10 if you want XF.

Have been going a bit crazy over the Aurora demonstrators, but really love the more refined look of this one too!

16 hours to go before the Massdrop drop closes... I don't really have the budget but if I don't get it I'm going to be kicking myself later. Strangely the biggest mental obstacle is that the clear blue m205 is sort of perfect.

It seems you are already set in that department with your blue m205. I have an amber m200 back from 2008 and really did not see the need for the clear one.

Also you can get the clear m205 for $115 (91.67bps with a conversion rate of $1.35) from Cult Pens and as long as they are still doing the free shipping over 50 pounds you are set. Otherwise add something to your cart to push it from 91 to 100 and you are set. I think they are currently giving the free Pelikan leather case with 100 pounds of Pelikan products in an order...

Got it from Massdrop last night... And of course there's a 20% coupon across the board on ebay today . Somehow I missed cult pens when doing my price comparison.

I received the m205 from Cult Pens today. It does not look cheap, nor does it feel cheap. I have a black m200 that I love, but somehow, it always felt cheap to me. Not to mention the multiple unfortunate bad nibs (both fines) but now the black m200 has a gold plated steel extra fine that is a nail, but consistent and works beautifully.

Now, the M205 has the extra fine nib, the line width is just a micron or two wider than the gold plated EF of the m200, and the m205 nib has a little bit of bounce to it, but it writes with the most beautiful wet extra fine stream of a line. I am using Platinum Carbon Black ( which sometimes tends to make some pens write with a wider line) because I like to sketch with my pens as well as write with them. The Carbon Black allows me to add watercolor to the sketches. The stainless steel extra fine nib that came with my m205 today has got to be one of the smoothest nibs I have ever used.I know it's the first day and all, and I have a couple of favorite pens like the Sailor King Of Pen Ebonite, medium nib that makes my heart skip a beat every time the nib touches the page, but the m205 surprises me with how smooth and springy, consistent and comfortable it is. It may become my favorite pen, especially for sketching due to the ease of monitoring the ink level. It is also a good looker without being flashy. The cap is completely transparent, allowing the nib to be easily seen when capped, which is also fun. Great first day and I can't wait to take it out for a spin tomorrow.

This is a sketch I did today of a man reading a newspaper at the cafe. Pelikan m205 EF loaded with Platinum Carbon Black ink, watercolor in a Pentalic Travelers Pocket Journal 4 X 3 inches 74 lb. sketch paper.

So here's my first impression of the Pelikan m205 Clear Demonstrator with an extra fine nib. Loving it.

Thank you so much, Derek! I bet you could draw amazingly if you give yourself a chance! It's more in the eye than it is in the hand. I'm only just learning. Thank you for the encouragement!

Day 2, It takes a bit of patience and tenacity to endure the line at Paris Baguette's Upper West Side @ 97th Street location, I am not sure if it is worth the wait in the long run. Nice to have a table to myself, though. Pelikan m205 clear demonstrator extra fine with Platinum Carbon Black ink, watercolor in open spread 4 x 3 Pentalic Traveler Pocket Journal

I said I was not going to bother, but I just ordered m205 demonstrator from Cult Pens. I got the pen, an m200 nib, 215 nib, and the free single pen Pelikan case for a total of $140 US (£ 105).

I had wanted some B nibs for my amber m200 and my m215 Rings and I saved a lot of money on those. Here in the US they are $43-$54 and I paid $10 and $14. I saved enough money on those nibs to have them custom ground to stubs or italics if I want.

With summer here I wear cargo shorts a lot and these small pens do great carried around with a note pad all the time. Now I can have one more color inked up at a time and it will be nice to see the ink color.
