That explains the pen's body color, as well. I'd never be interested in a pen that color but as an homage it seems spot on.

After 9 years of this fountain pen hobby, I finally have a Sailor. The Anderson Pens Slate Blue Pro Gear. And thankfully I finally have a frame of reference when people talk about "Sailor nib feel."

I opted for a MF nib, and I'm glad I did. It's a great width. Comparable to a Pelikan EF but....its own thing. Now I get it why people say it feels like a pencil. Flow isn't as wet as I like (and I opened it up a smidge after taking it out of the box, as the nib slit wasn't showing any light through). A very controlled line, not too dry, not too wet. Dry-ish for my taste but somehow still free free flowing. It also seems to perform better on Japanese papers (Apica, Tomoe) than Clairfontaine. It's fun to write with. Very tactile...different than Pilot and Platinum, that's for sure.

This thread is dangerous...Sailors are expensive and there are far too many attractive special editions than my wallet can handle.

I love my Sailor pens and now have 7 of them in my pen collection. I have recently added a Sapporo Purple Cosmos to the collection - I too, would like to get my hands on the black velvet one. Currently have a Black Lustre medium and a 1911 large Royal Tangerine broad inked up. Looking to get a Stormy Seas one next. They are great writers and the broad nibs show the character of the ink off beautifully.

I know this is not a limited/Store edition per se, but as sailor dwindled the production, this pen gets harder to come by each month. I'm contemplating buying a kop with king eagle nib. Having found so many sailor aficionados, I'd like to learn how everyone thinks about that nib, and if it's worth to plunge cash over it :). I'll be able to buy it around 1100 from a local store, in ebonite finish.

Absolutely gorgeous pen, love the colors they chose.

How is the balance of the PenStyle Memo?

I like it. Given that it has threads, so the cap can thread onto the back of the body when posting, the overall size and balance is fairly comparable to the Pro Gear Sapporo.

Bungbox's Tsuyuhikari has to be seen to be believed... I love how the nib says Ink tells more

Pen-house' Saijiki might be of interest to some

All three of those Pen-House Saijiki pens you linked are the Sapporo size, correct? They are nice, though it is the Realo like I'm longing for.

Fun thread! I wonder if I'll get into these LEs. I stopped buying Sailor after I finally lost patience with the converter and also decided I had the models that for me are the most satisfying - 1911 Realo silver/black, ProGear Imperial Black, ProGear Sky and Demo, and ProGear Ebonite. All these are very sober though - I love the delicious colors in this thread! Maybe I'll return to Sailor.

Greetings FPN's valued friends!

I am an enthusiast of Japanese Pens, specially those with gold nibs, so I was wondering if anybody around here knows about the Sailor Mini 24k?

I have been searching for it for a while now and have failed at finding one, yet.

I would appreciate any info on where to get one or information about the history of this particular pen and the Karat War that led to its making!

Note the picture, it is the 1st pen from right to left. Solid Gold!

The Cronicas Estilograficas blog ( http://estilofilos.blogspot.com/ ) has talked about that, go through the Japanese pens tag or pocket pens, not sure, but you'll find it.

Basically, the big 3 are very competitive and when one of them came out with a higher carat nib, the others not only followed suit, but tried to outdo each other by having a higher carat offer than their competitors. So that went on for a while, but the best carat for writing (as many claim) is 14k.

What pen is that on the right? Also the 2nd right? Sailor?

Pilot - Platinum - Platinum - Sailor - ? - ?

I'm not sure I've seen a Pro Gear Ebonite. Does anyone have a link to this?
