Akkerman #14: Parkpop Purper

 

Akkerman inks are made by P.W. Akkerman in The Hague. Akkerman inks have unique bottles that make filling pens very easy. This review is based off a sample that I purchased several months ago and I am just now getting around to trying.

 

 

 

My overall impression is very favorable. The ink is not lubricated, but flows nicely and behaves well overall.

 

But what really sets this ink apart is the sheen! I had seen some sheen when I wrote in my journal (MD Midori) and really saw sheen when I wrote a letter today. But I was hugely surprised to see so much sheen on the HP copy paper that I wrote this review on.

 

My overall score is 8/10, with such great sheen!

Where's the humour?

Parkpop is an annual free musicfestival held in Den Haag. Pop is the music (popular music), park is the location. And I'm sure there'll be a lot of pot on the premises (pot has a lot of meanings in Dutch. Mariuhana being on of them).

Good review of an interesting ink. You definitely possess the talent of raking in nice colors which may have found a good position in the middle. E.g. your review on Diamine's Turquoise. Here -- as you already wrote above for Akkerman's Purple -- not too red and not too blue. Of course it's a very subjective matter. One of my favorite colors of all (although I myself might tend a tick towards a touch more blue). In any case, Diamine's Lavender looks like a close companion. D may have overdone it a bit again, because they (D) sometimes offer a whole handful of goodies with hardly any difference(s) at all. I.e., as everybody can see, their purple spectrum (alongside Lavender) appears to be narrowed down to Majestic Purple (maybe less red), Violet (maybe paler) and Imperial Purple (maybe redder).

Yes, I do have a tendency to find "middle of the road" colors. Perhaps it has something to do with being a negotiator who tries to see things from different points of view.

 

Truthfully, I tend to not prefer heavily saturated inks. I like to see color in all its various shades. Sometimes when an ink is so heavily saturated, it just looks dark, especially if it doesn't shade or sheen or something other than looking dark.
