Platinum Redesigned Ink Bottles

Platinum has re-designed their ink bottles for the "mixable" range, maybe the rest of the ink range will also be re-designed. The bottles are now square, like Sailor's and also feature only 20ml.

Though I am not entirely sure whether the previous 60ml ones will be discontinued or be available alongside the 20ml square bottles.

Will they create another line called "Unmixable"?

What's with the new trend of squared bottles and downsizing the content?

Also, will the price remain the same much like with Sailor?

thank you for the information... the bottles are not square in the link provided, but a rhombus.

see how 5 bottles make a flower in the article. very nice indeed , if only the caps were of better quality.

You're right!! I was wondering whether the "diamond bottles" (that's what Platinum is calling them, but also "rhombus") were different from the squared ones and as I was preparing this topic I was looking at the full bottles for the longest time to figure out whether they are the same as in the "flower design" (also Platinum's words) or yet other bottles, completely square like Sailor's..... Turns out I didn't see properly, but now I see it clearly..

I thought the same... The 20ml will cost 1000 Yen (plus tax). The empty bottle will cost 500 Yen (plus tax). The 60ml costs 1200 Yen (plus tax), so there's a considerable mark-up for the small bottles. I noticed these bottles a little while ago on instagram and saw them on Platinum's site, only the Japanese version though, it's not (yet) on the English version..

Oh and it says on the site that the 20ml is additionally available to the 60ml, so I guess this will be the only change in Platinum's ink line (for now... at least in terms of ink bottle design).

The small bottles are an answer to costumers complaining the bottles were too big, an empty ink bottle will also be offered now for your mixes.

That line technically already exists, in shape of the pigment and iron gall inks :D

They did it just so they could make this "star" shape combining 5 bottles together: ;)

Indeed :) As per Platinum, so it "looks beautifully on your desk", and it does!! Instant temptation :glare: :sm_cat:

The star shape is pretty, but dang that's quite price increase.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).
