I have a Yiren 566 and it is leaking ink. If left nib downwards for any length of time there is ink in the cap. Are any of the other Lamy clones affected in the same way?

This is the third Yiren 566 and all three have had the same issue.

The pen is inked with Hero 234 Carbon Black using it's own converter. This ink is somewhat thicker than normal. In the past I have lost a converter of Herbin Lie de The and a Parker cartridge.

There has to be air getting in for there to be the slow flow of ink out or else there'd be a vacuum which would stop it.

On the present pen I have not tried a Parker cartridge that had ink in, but I do have a converter for my Parker Reflex. That felt somewhat loose, I was therefore unwilling to sacrifice a filled cartridge for research purposes.

What would you do?

Strip the pen & re-assemble with some sort of sealant?

I thought the Yiren 566 was a reasonable Safari knock-off.

I have not encountered that problem with the several 566s I have nor any of the many other Safari clones I have. A slow but cheap approach would be to get different converters and/or Hero 359 cartridges from China to see how those work. I think most of the Chinese pens with big bore converters were designed for the 359 cartridges. Some work and some leak with Parker cartridges which are close but not the same, though in my case the ink leaked into the barrely. Lamy cartridges tend to be a better fit leak-wise but are more likely to not fit in the barrel.

Are the converters pushed all the way in? Some Chinese pens require considerable force. Unfortunately they are also prone to break -- not a happy combination;-(

I tried a empty Lamy Cartridge & it didn't seem to fit. I haven't tried the Hero 359 cartridges.

I have made sure there was no air in the Yiren's converter.

I am leaving it laid horizontal & then I will leave it nib-down again while I go off to work.

I washed the cap out, so any further leaking will be easy to spot.

The converter is pushed all the way in.
