Danitrio: Help Identifying, Wishing To Sell

Hi,

 

I was hoping some of you will be able to help me.

My father had a collection of fountain pens which are now in my possession. His collection includes a few very prestige pens (from what I gather), including a Danitrio.

 

I know nothing about fountain pens, so I need some help identifying the model of this pen (pics attached).

 

I'd like to sell this pen, however knowing nothing about it, this is pretty difficult! I'm looking for the specific name & model, and perhaps even an estimate of how much this pen was purchased for so I can gauge the price I should sell at.

 

Saying that, should anyone be interested in purchasing, do let me know.

I am not an expert in Danitrio and am not 100% sure, but it looks like it might be a Mikado. You can see what appears to be the same model on a dealer's site here:

I used to own one but sold it a while back. It is a high quality eyedropper filled pen. For pre-owned selling prices you can check the various pen site classifieds, the auction site, or Google.

It is a Mikado in aka tamenuri color. Value is probably in the $800 to $900 range give or take and depending on condition.

What is the nib size? This can be found at the base of the nib where it meets the pen body. The designation is usually an upper case letter, F, M B, etc. You will need a magnifying glass to find it. Let me know. I might be interested but as Unical asks, do you really want to sell it?

I've had a look and it says 'F'.

 

I suppose selling it depends on the value - like I said, I know nothing about fountain pens so perhaps I don't understand the 'worth' of the pen.

 

If it's likely to increase in value, or is extremely rare this may persuade me to hold on to it.

I can see where you're coming from, but I know it wouldn't get any use from me - it would just sit in the display case as it has been for a long time!

Not likely to increase in {Pounds Euros USD}....Pens are not good investments....Nor is that pen rare....

 

If we're talkin' bout Dunhill/Namiki c. 1930's or Parker number{s} 15, 37 {Ag}, 38 {Au}, 47 or 45 {MOP/Abalone}

Like the proverbial hen's teeth.......

 

Sounds like you want to sell....Go ahead and do it at a fair price and it will be gone.....

Whether you choose to sell the pen or give it to someone who would appreciate it is a personal decision; I do think it is important to know the value of things before making that decision. I gave my Father's gold pocket watch & chain to my Cousin because she shared his name & felt she would appreciate it. It was her Great Grandfather's but had been given to my Father instead of hers. I was aware of the value because I had sold other pocket watches that had been from my Mother's family & knew I wasn't giving away an amount I wasn't happy to do.

 

(I had my Mother's jewelry appraised & sold the diamonds because the value was greater than I wished to "pass along," despite some of them being family stones.)
