Moonman Wancai Mini: A Beautiful Acrylic Pocket Pen

Sheaffer270

Recommended Posts

I have a Wancai in the same blueish-green as Jazavac.

I replaced the nib with a Medium Diplomat Magnum nib. I love those - they are surprisingly springy.

The Wancai nib went out without issue, but sometimes those things are a real pain to pull out.

I have been battleing a Moonman M2 nib off and on for almost two weeks now and so far, it has resisted all of my attempts to remove it.

Oh, Misfit, I love you.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Such a tiny great pen ! I fall in love with. First time I saw one of those it was in WaskiSquirrel youtube channel... in a pen in use video. Very intrigued. I did an order next month and now this pen is always with me. He has Diamine soft mint in it perfect combo.

Writing right away... I use a cartridge less messy for me especially for everyday caring :)

Although if I still want to use cartridges (more than eyedropper), does someone knows which size... The seal is not an international one (a tiny little bit bigger hole than an international)... ???

It is supposed to have some cartridges that fit. It looks to me like the Jinhao cartridges but I have not tested.

Thank you Amberleadavis. You do so much for this community with your awesome reviews, the Ghost avatars, and letters and samples. I was happy to provide a tiny thing for you.

I thought about putting Diamine Soft Mint in the itty bitty pen, but I had it in another pen, and needed a break from it.

If it were to take a cartridge, it'd be any short international.

Hold on, I'll go sacrifice my fill of pelikan smoky quartz to test it for you.

That's a big negatory on the cartridge. The mouth of the SI cartridge/converter is too small, and the barrel is too short for any other cartridge I can think of.

I don't really see the appeal of a cartridge anyways. This thing is a SPECTACULAR eyedropper. 2.5ML of ink in the gorgeous demonstrator acrylic body.

I knew that, it's just I was wondering if someone knew about others cartridges whom can fit, because it clearly need proprietary ink... Maybe good to know if some people don't have the material to use this pen as a eyedropper ? Actually, I prefer the cartridges but I probably will use it as eyedropper (just need to order silicone grease). Good to know that people whom want to order this pen can need a Moonman ink. Thanks for your help :) Have a great week everyone !

Sil - can you take a few pics of the cartridges?

I broke down and ordered one of these. When it arrives, I'll see if the Jinhao cartridges will fit.

As of 3:00 p.m. Eastern time today, even though the $2+change price is still listed on the initial screen at eBay, the minute you choose a color the price jumps up to $14US + change for the acrylic, and almost $60 US for the other.

It still looks like a very cool pen, but it looks a lot cooler at less than $3 US than a does for almost 15, or almost 60.

Just add an F at the beginning, and any Art stinks.

Except your own.

For 2USD are you sure got the pen and not the pack of cartridges? Because the price of the pen has been 14USD since it appeared on ebay. The 60USD price is for the hard rubber version, not for the acrylic.

Oh yes ! You are right, I was in a hurry, I didn't think to take pictures (I did my best)... it's more obvious that the moonman is almost 1 mm larger and higher than an international cartridge.

Okay, I think the Gullor cartridges and Jinhao will fit.

The small black and clear are international standards.

Here is the Amazon link for the Gullors. BTW, that Gullor green looks terrible as a daily use ink but amazing as a UV ink.

No, I understand that. Serves me right for typing so quickly. I just found it amusing that most of the sellers of this pen on eBay have the low price come up as you open the sale page, and then as soon as you click on the pen color the price jumps to 15 or $60. It's an amusing bait and switch, that obviously isn't incredibly serious if you know what you're after, but it does get you to click when you see something listed as being to 99 cents to $3.

It does! I find it so aggravating that I ignore those auctions outright.

... Which of course means that you might sometimes miss an otherwise rewarding sale. I wouldn't call it a no win situation but it is annoying. But I've been sold, I just ordered one and I will see in the next week or so just how it is. Certainly at the price it already compares favorably to the Stipula Passaporto that's been getting so furiously pimped recently.

You will not regret getting this cute little pen. Which color did you choose? I bet De Atramentis Mint Turquoise would be a good choice for the version I got.
