Goulet had an launch exclusive with Conklin on a model of Omniflex which sold out quickly. Now the nib is available as an option on many Conklin pens and from other venders.

Yep, Driften caught my meaning. I should have said the Omniflex Duragraph exclusive to Goulet.

 

ETA: And I also should have said the Omniflex Duragraph exclusive to Pen Chalet as well, I suppose.

I don't have a Conklin Duragraph, so I can't compare, but is the Conklin Duraflex really nothing more than a Duragraph with the Omniflex nib installed? Even if so, I think it gets a little confusing to call it the Omniflex Duragraph since, to the best of my knowledge, Conklin never released a pen by that name.

 

But along those lines, has anyone actually seen the Omniflex nib in a pen product other than the Duraflex so far?

I believe that Monteverde, also a Yafa brand, has a pen with this nib. Don't know for sure but the Marlen Aleph nib looks the same

These are Duragraphs, yes, right down to "Duragraph" engraved on the cap ring. The only difference here is different trim colors (rose gold for the Goulet exclusive, ruthenium for the Pen Chalet exclusive) and the presence of an Omniflex nib.

 

Goulet is currently offering the standard Duragraphs with the Omniflex nib as an option in the pulldown menu. I'm thinking of buying a spare nib to tinker with grinding it for a finer line 😄

 

ETA: Another difference is, of course, the limited edition number engraved on them, for what that's worth.

Right you are! I feel silly, but I literally forgot that they called these limited editions the Duraflex! But, as we can see from Goulet as I mentioned above, the Omniflex Duragraph is now actually a thing as well 😅

I never noticed the tiny little "Duragraph" on the cap ring. I only noticed the engraved "Duraflex" on the pen body.

 

I think it's great that you can get the Duragraph with the Omniflex nib now.

Ah, right! That was the other thing that disappointed me about the Pen Chalet Duraflex, that there was no engraving on the barrel like the Goulet one. Maybe that explains why I didn't remember the thing's proper name!

Seems omniflex is misspelt on the box... might become a collector thing

 

Running to go look at my box now ... my copyeditor friends will go nuts....

 

Can someone please explain the dishwashing liquid thing? I'm not familiar with doing that. I also got the pretty brown LE Conklin from Goulet, I've never used a flexible nib before, and the directions in the box said not to press so hard the tines separate ... when a picture on Goulet's site shows exactly that! It does seem to need a bit more pressure than I would have thought to get a slightly broader line.... does that change with use?

kk, the Sandstone one that I purchased has the spelling correct on it.

 

It has become a thing with those of us in publishing in NYC, where the powers that be have decided that copyediting, research & proofreading are superfluous, to circulate egregious examples in print and online, as yet more evidence of the decline of western civilization.

 

(I'm not a copyeditor, tho. I'm a sailor.)
