Got My Visconti Pininfarina Disegno Today

I picked this up new for a killer deal on eBay. No way was I going to touch it at retail! Its not exactly what I expected though. Its kind of a tomato red and not the bright Ferrari red I was hoping for in pics. I guess it could be considered a Rosso Bordeaux Ferrari red but not the bright re-sale red Rosso Corsa I was expecting. Also this damn Smartouch nib is something I really wish Visconti would dispense with pushing. I have 3 of them and theyre all a POS. I had to work on this one today and thought I had it sorted but now its not writing unless you prime the feed after a few hours capped. I might just explore the idea of putting a regular #6 nib on it and be done with it. Dont see why it wouldnt work. Cool design overall but the nib and shade of red are a bit of a let down.

Someday the mountain might get em but the law never will.........

Nice pen (but knowingly flawed). I do like the colour though.

I just noticed it's not the retractable nib. I didn't realise they had this.

I have the retractable nib version as well. You don’t want to deal with that one either. It’s like this model but 6x more expensive. That design is spectacular and very innovative of fountain pens these days but the execution will leave you frustrated with much to be desired.....like the nib working after a few hours of being capped/closed. There’s much feed priming to be done!

My experience has been much different...I have not found the Smartouch nib or the Pininafarino Disegno to be "knowingly" flawed.

I have the Ferrari Red Disegno with a Stub nib...

The color of my Pen looks much redder than the images above..(the above images look more Burgundy)..I don't know if the difference in color is real, or if it is because the PC screens image is not a true replica of the color.

I intentionally did not flush it before using it....to fill I placed the Smartouch nib in the bottle and filled using the converter...

The ink I am using is Colorverse Andromeda.

After the feed/nib had an opportunity to be primed with a few key strokes the nib began to perform flawlessly....I have been using it now for a few weeks...no hard starts, no skips, etc...it is performing flawlessly.. I really like the design of the Pen, it feels great in the hand in my writing position, and I like the magnetic cap.

The longest it has been at rest, capped, without use, has been around 4 days....started right up after the rest.

The Tubular Smartouch nib on the Disegno has performed similarly to the Smart touch nib on my Visconti Metal Opera which has also been a very good Pen/nib.
