How Many Onotos Do You Own

I realise that since opening the thread I have moved from low F firmly into the G range. Unlike earlier purchases, some of the new ones were bought expecting to resell them after repair, targetting unrestored pens. Some of those repaired pens may displace existing ones rather than being sold themselves, offering a different colour, difference in age, or length of section.

Such a great brand. Only have two. One is a 1948 green marble 5601 piston filler with #3 stenographer's nib. The other is a spectacularly beautiful 1948 De La Rue transition pen lever filler with a *very* fine (and exquisitely smooth) accountant's nib. Bot pens are gems. They're in regular use.

What's the story behind the white plunger knob? Are they all like that, or is that a special request (eg)?

It seems an odd choice on a pen which has typically understated aesthetics.

 

But, it's a wonderful pen. Thanks for sharing.

It is rewarding to see a Mammoth pen on FPN. You must be proud to own this limited edition pen which i had the honour to design and manufacture for the Onoto company.

In answer to why it has a white plunger knob, it is made from genuine and verified Mammoth ivory which was sourced from Russia at great expense. The ivory in this case is not CITES protected as the source is now extinct.

Do you use the plunger pen, or do you keep it safe and sound?

It is slightly less than 5 inches , roughly the size of a Montblanc Monte Rosa and is a coppery bronze marble with gold trim and a dark brown cone shaped finial on the cap and short rounded one on the end of the barrel. The lever is tiny ! Sorry but I have no ability to post a picture of it as I do not take even decent pictures .

Appears to be 1950. Does it have two gold bands on the cap? I have a a couple of examples of those tiny Onoto levers. They are fun to lift, aren't they.

I'll try but no guarantees . Every digital picture I try to take ( up Close anyway ) shows the subject fuzzy looking and the background looks like something in a pro photo . My phone does only a little better last time I tried using it but it is 6 years old so I do not expect much from it anyway.

I had not seen this thread although it has been there for some time... I guess I am H. since I have 42 Onoto in my collection, mostly vintage...

I love Plunger fillers but some are ED, LF and PF... I need more time for images but I will add some in the next days.
