I purchased this pen in 1986. I have always had problems with the ink drying out, sometimes as I was using it and paused for ten seconds or so. The ink has always been dried out when I tried the pen after it had been capped for a day or so. I have tried several brands of ink. Lovely pen. Crappy machine for writing. Anyone have suggestions?

I've seen these pens, but know very little about them.

However, I believe it's a pretty straightforward cartridge delivery system. So, I'd start by giving it a good flush through under the tap? Or maybe put the nib section into a glass of water to soak for a day, or so. It could just be old dried up ink clogging the flow.

Good luck.

Can you tell us what ink you are using? Because the behavior your citing sounds like a saturated India ink, which is not appropriate for fountain pens. It'll clog up a pen mighty fast and create ongoing flow problems.
