Noodler's Legal Lapis and Noodler's Kiawa Pecan

I recently received a bottle of Noodler's Kiowa Pecan from Pear Tree Pens (No affiliation, just a happy customer). I really like the color of the ink, but wanted to compare its flow characteristics with my ink of choice, Legal Lapis. Here is the result of using several different pens. I had never tried Legal Lapis in a Waterman Phileas before, but I didn't have much luck. I really like the subtle color changes in the Kiowa Pecan, especially in the fine nib True Writer. I think it's going to enter my daily rotation for personal use.

On a different note, as I wrote this, my significant other (who has no interest in pens or inks whatsoever) remarked, "Cool, brown ink!" Last time a bottle came in the mail, she wanted to know how much it was this time!

That's unfortunate! I've used LL in my M-nib Phileas without any problems. Admittedly, I have to adjust my writing to a slightly larger scale when I use the Phileas because I have small handwriting.

What happened during your test? Did it just feather out too much, or did a blob of ink come out? Did you try it on different paper?

I would also be interested to hear what problems you had with the LL in your Phileas. I have used it in several of my pens with no difficulties. The flow has been good, and it lays nicel on paper. It has a nice antique look to it - well, to my untrained eye - that I really like.

The Kiowa Pecan seems to be geting some good reviews here. I like brown inks, and I probably should try this one.

Thanks for the review.
