Florence Pen Case

Hello, I'm looking for some information on montblanc's Florence pen cases. Could be anything at all such as: what years did they start and cancel production, all the different types of finishes and colours.

Thanks

I recall 2 color choices (black and burgundy), 2 sizes (one and two pens), and two finishes (smooth and aligator). I think list prices were like $180 to $240. That's from memory so could be off.

I am fortunate to have two examples.

One is a single case in black with smooth leather and the other dual burgundy in alligator.

Both were purchased as NOS over ebay.

I have a few of these, but mine are all black. I sold my brand new bordeaux one.

There is one disadvantage to the two pen case: the leather divider only goes part way down the case, so doesn't keep your pens from touching each other at the bottom.

It's not too difficult to fix this by simply glueing in another piece of leather from where the original piece stops. ;)

(I never clip my pens to the case like Nathan does either. I just don't like the idea of forcing the clip away from the pen that far, and it marks the case surface.)

If I'm not mistaken, there was a recent reiteration of this Florence pen pouch some years back. The recent one came with 1 pen pouch with alligator pattern in three colours which one them is mocha colour. The difference between the old and recent would be the location of montblanc logo and the recent pouch would spot a ring around the logo.

Was discussed earlier here. >> https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/225811-florentine-cases-coming-back/

Is mine a fake then since I believe mine is the 2-3 pen case and it has no pen dividers?

I don't have one either and I'm certain mine is genuine.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
