When are these inks available? Does anyone know?

Sorry I don't know. They are only mentioned on the Montblanc.com web-site as "currently unavailable" at the moment. I'm sure that when they become available that will change. :)

It is also worth bearing in mind that inks mean different things to different people.

Some (many?) hoard inks in draws for years/decades. Sometimes this is so that they can crack them open for use at a later time (like a fine wine?), other times this is so that they can resell them for 2-3x original RRP on eBay.

Others rush back from the shop and ink up a pen immediately: to do calligraphy; to take notes in business meetings; to write poems/love letters; to doodle; to mark exam scripts.

I like to use my inks so sit in the latter camp, but in doing so I still derive pleasure from ink several years after having opened and finished the bottle. I still have notebooks from university, which I can date because I used limited edition MB inks (Seasons Greetings, from 2006-2008). Although those inks lost their scent a long time go, it is still a joy (albeit somewhat self-indulgent) to look back at my handwriting and fondly recall the joy I had when writing with those inks.

Whilst I don't intend to rush out to by any of the new Elixir inks, if they give anyone pleasure or fulfil a purpose in any of the above ways, then £50/$79 or whatever pales into insignificance.

I wonder if Montblanc has "cottoned-on" to the fact that there are many resellers who buy multiple bottles of their inks so that they can keep them for a while, then sell them later on ebay and other Internet sites, at a higher price. This might not work as well for these inks that are already at a high price. On the other hand who knows?

Although the price is high in relation to the current bottles; I will decide which one I like the best based on the limited views of the color and the detailed description and give it a try.

I have had many people "bash" me because of the price I pay for my pens - because there are cheaper pens out there and they all "write" the "same"! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and what you find value in!

Ink is the same as anything else to me!

I agree.

And if people dont find

enough value in the Elixir inks, then they wont sell and MB will drop them. If these inks sell well, then we will have more ink selection to enjoy from MB along with their regular inks at regular prices. In the end it all works out.

Montblanc might be reading this thread. Would be interesting to see how fast the new ink sells out on the initial stock of it.

Hm. I wonder if the Elixir ink pages were released on the website before they were supposed to be...

I think that's what probably happened too. Oh dear. I wonder if someone got into trouble over that? :(

MB staff should have read the pinned topic about the embargo on not discussing unreleased product lines!

Given their legal department we’re the motivating force behind that pinned post, one hopes they’re as...forceful...internally.
