Greeting From Manchester, Uk - Possible Mb 146 Purchase

Well after a bit of negotiating, armed with the information from here, it came home with me.

Of course, a gentleman doesn't disclose the extent of his negotiating expertise.

Some snaps, taken in daylight, which (hopefully) show some of the detail better than the environs of a shopkeeper.

Now, should I search for the correct, period packaging (part of the negotiating ploy)?

Great pen. Enjoy writing with it. And don't worry about the case. I bought one of my uninked NOS 146 with no case. The previous owner was not a pen person and had thrown away the case but then did not use the pen at all. He did not pay a penny for the pen. Receied it as a gift. I bought the pen cheap but wouldn't say how cheap. :)

Enjoy your pen and don't worry about the box. You won't want to keep your pen in it anyway. You will either get a collectors box for several pens, or maybe a leather case so that you can take it with you. I have boxes full of empty boxes that I never use. :)

Congratulations, it's a beauty!

Nice work on using the 'wrong box' negotiating tactic, hope you got it for a decent price.

Now, forget about the box and get the pen inked up and use it!

When I got my first 146 I thought my pen buying days were over. I'd never need another pen, now that I had a 146.

That was a long time and a lot of pens ago! Ah, well, best intentions and all that...

But, I repeat, that looks a fantastic 146 you've got there!

Enjoy.

Welcome !

Seems a fair wager that it is a good one. Montblancs are quite durable. The important issue is whether it

writes well. If it writes well, clean it and use it. Fellow members can give you ways to check the ink for

usability. It the ink fails ANY test, discard it ! If you have ANY doubts, discard it ! For use in an everyday

fountain pen, even "pricey" inks are "cheap". A two-ml bottle of ink will typically last a year, or two, or three.

Have a pot of tea, a bit of dark chocolate, and write with joy.
