Hi All,

Has anyone tried this fountain pen called Wancher Dream Pen on Kickstarter? Looks interesting, good value but ebonite and urushi is never cheap. Japanese Ebonite with Urushi options. I am more interested in the quality of the ebonite and urushi work. Is this available at any brick and morter stores or just internet?

Sorry badly answered by me. Come the end of the year, assuming all is fine, they will be available online through Wancher, who are an established company, and in time might be available in a B&M - not sure any of their products are at present, but this will be their first whole pen.

My only question is that they are coming with Jowo nibs. I have a couple of gold Jowo nibs in a Kanilea and a Diplomat Aero, and I'd say they are a far cry from a Sailor gold nib or Platinum nibs in their Izumo lines. Is this a valid concern? Or do I need to be schooled on my basic knowledge of Jowo nibs?

Jowo are German nibs, and thus must be compared as such. Very standard nibs. Nothing spectacular, but nothing really bad to say either. If you are in the business of making pens, 9/10 times it will be either Bock or Jowo, Unless you are like some custom makers (StyloArt) who have the blessings of Japan's "big three" to use their nibs, sections, and assemblies(Pilot, Sailor, and Platinum). Nakaya I think also uses nibs from one of these three makers, branded as their own.

Sort of. They're "related to" Platinum and, a such, their nibs are pseudo-Platinum.

on what pens do you find knox?

I know the question isn't addressed to me, but since I'm already here, I might as well answer...

Knox makes a few pens, namely: the Avicenna, Galileo, Plato, and Aristotle. You can find them at birminghampens.com, and you can also buy just the nibs from them.

I've only tried the Galileo and it was nice, specially for the price. The nib was smooth but a tad too wide for a medium. I bought mine locally so I don't know their shipping costs.

Hope that helps 😅

Yes, Knox only offers gold-plated steel nibs. But they do write well, and the engraving looks really nice. 😊

I'm one of those who took the leap and signed up for this back in January 2018. From what I understand, some Dream Ebonite pens have been shipped out, but none yet for the Dream Urushi. Latest update says they'll begin shipping those end of January 2019.
