i picked up this unusual sheaffer school pen in mandarin orange. i don't normally mess with them, but i could not resist given the color. looking into it more the cap does not look like any of the other school pens i can find online. is this a normal sheaffer cartridge pen? it has a 305 nib and the parts are all interchangeable with other school pens. mandarin snorkel included for color/size comparisons.

This pen looks more like a Snorkel than a school pen. It has Sheaffer's white dot above the clip, and a Snorkel turning grip at the blind cap. If you got it at a school pen price, then this is a "whatta-sumgai".

Is it a cartridge pen?

OP notes that the Snorkel is included for comparison. OP is asking about the pen in the top of the photo.

Yep, they're easy to mistake for a Snorkel. I have one just like it in Buckskin and I think I saw one in Sage so I'm thinking they're from the 50s or 60s. I don't know what they're called.

I see a couple of these school pens for sale now. Different colors. They remind me of the Cadet Touchdown filler school pens.
