Sheaffer White Dot #1050 Brass Base

Dear readers,

I was lucky to find this beautiful pen set on a brass base, but with a missing pen. The pen - Sheaffer white dot 14K #1050, has an interesting pearl-like striated pattern. And the pen works - I have been using it. Unfortunately, the set is missing a pen. Any chance of finding a replacement pen for my set. Thanks for reading, Laurence

Beautiful tortoise pen and brass pen holder. I've never seen one like that before but I am far from an expert on desk pens.

They do show up from time to time in auctions and pen shows. If you're lucky, you can get one without a base for cheaper than if it has the base. You say it works, but I suspect the filler mechanism is not truly working. That looks like it might be either a vacuum filler or a touch-down filler, but others who know their Sheaffers betters could probably say. If you unscrew the tail piece and pull it out, gently, if you see a solid, steel tube, it's a touch-down filler. If it's a thin metal or plastic rod, it's a vacuum filler.

Those are beautiful pens, and when fully working they are quite nice. I am particularly fond of those wrap-around triumph nibs. Today I'm using a Valiant pen, as a matter of fact.
