That's quite interesting. Is it $18 per package? One choice is probably to use some mail forwarding service and they will pack everything nicely in one package.

It is indeed. People aren't exactly happy about it...

Doesn't help that Chinese retailers tend to split orders into multiple packages (without asking). Or that the merchandise so often arrives defective so they have to send replacements!

Officially, it is a VAT collection fee, but they haven't done a good job at pretending it is not about earning more money. Amusingly, they don't appear to realize that the number of packages will drop dramatically.
