Hi, folks.

Can someone identify and provide any information about this safety pen? According to the engravings, it's a «Stoffhaas» 204, 14K nib #4, but I can't find any information on the web.

Dimensions:

Closed: 11,8 cm

Uncapped: 10,4 cm

Uncapped + nib: 12,2 cm

Posted: 16,7 cm

Thanks in advance.

Thank you, Rowbo.

I have seen these links before, but none of them show exactly the same pen I have.

After looking for information, it seems my pen was made in 1930-1939 -- because of the clip and the octogonal body -- not before, as I suspected right after purchasing this pen. I have seen many MB safety pens with round bodies and clip or octogonal bodies and no clip -- but haven't seen any safety pen with octogonal body and clip.

Anyway, thank you for your kindness.

Hi Christiandrs

Another site you may or may not have seen is: http://montblanc.parkerpens.org/montblanc.html

This site is referenced from our home page pinned posts - Monblanc reference websites by Kalessin.

My information on Montblanc is derived purely online, unlike our resident experts, to whom I shall defer.

Edit: Actually, on looking at your photos, the clip looks to me as if it has been added - it does not look as if it is a perfect fit to the rest of the pen.

My interest is piqued! - so I googled montblanc octagonal and looked at some images.

Here is another website that might interest you too: http://pensninks.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/1924-1928-montblanc-8-sided-no-6-safety.html

Edit: It seems linking to a page on Michael R's blog does not work. Here is his home page: http://pensninks.blogspot.co.uk. Search for '8-sided' or look for the label '8-sided' on the pop-out on the right hand side. (Thank you Michael, a most informative site).

There is a similar pen (same clip) pictured in the montblanc book (collectible stars 1908-1947), it´s a montblanc 8 sided "204" and it was made 1935-1936.
