Not that I would attempt to service my vintage pens, but - if I were to do so - I'd certainly be guided by your explanation. Very well done. Thanks.

thanks KAC! Im glad its useful!

Your 244 has the same piston mechanism as my 333 1/2, which I broke during the repair today. The black plastic piston part has a channel which needs to be fixed by a small pin inside barrel. My pen had a loose pin (the tiny black pin in the attached photo), resulting the piston knob keeps rotating without retracting/extending the piston unit.  I do not know what other models have the same piston mechanism. But if you have a loose pin inside the barrel, it is almost impossible to repair the pen.

p.s. there is a third tiny pin, which I lost (that pin was on the top of the knob thread)

Do you know how to dissemble the black tip from the piston rod? Thanks.

But I have this pen fixed ... after 5 years ... The black cap cannot be screwed out. I used a rubber piston head instead and it works. In my opinion, this construction is a lot more robust than the 333 1/2.
