How about Goulet's passport-sized tomoe river notebooks? They are $6 apiece but have 96 pages. https://www.gouletpens.com/goulet-notebook-52gsm-tomoe-river-paper-passport-tn-blank/p/GP-35131

I have several. They are very small and comparatively expensive. Pocketable, for sure, but more plain than rad.

I ride a recumbent, I play go, I use Macintosh so of course I use a fountain pen.

A lot depends on how big your pockets are, and what sort of pen you're sticking in there to write in your notebook with, but I'd forget the Field Notes things right off: they're very thin, stupidly expensive (a packet of three of the things is at least twice as much as you'll pay for a set of fatter, cheaper and much more sturdy Moleskine cahiers), and they're not all that brilliant with fountain pen ink, either. If you want a 9x14 notebook, the Clairfontaine "age bag" things have a lot more pages, much better paper and aren't any more flimsy.

Rhodia #12 block pads are great if you're okay with a pad that's stapled across the top rather than a notebook. They also seem to be getting steadily easier to find, which never hurts. The very wide page ruling puts some people off, though.

There are also some nice offbrand notebooks. Paperplace, if they're available in the States do some very nice pocket sized notebooks: solid, thick, cheap and with pretty decent paper.

I like some of the notebooks from Evil Supply company. They sell very cutesy, cartoon villain style things but they have a lot of whimsy and personality! If you use a very wet pen they may not be the best, but they're quick to disassemble and print your own linings on, then reassemble if that's your thing (that's what I typically do)

Oh wow -- some of those are great! I like that they have a place on the back for your last will and testament....

Wonder if my brother needs the killer robot one....

So sorry, Ruth; a friend of mine purchased the last Killer Robot Maintenance Log and the remaining Travel Journals. I hope the Evil Supply Co will print more Killer Robot Maintenance Logs as I, oops, I mean "he", needs more of them.

Evilly, the purchased items are packed in an E-vile, black paper bag and transported in a plain, brown box by a necromanced US Postal worker.
