This made me laugh. Green ink and 'a sober, boring person' do not generally show up in the same sentence. Have you never heard of the 'green ink brigade'? We are known as ravers.

:) I have the now discontinued Franklin Christoph Loden which is a quite a dark green. I'm a bit loathe to load it in the Pelikan since it's in the wet side but I'll bite the bullet one day. Nooders Zhivago is just plain too dark... I mean I like dark green, but it's indistinguishable from black (maybe in a stub or a really dry nib it would show off). I used to have Private Reserve Avocado but it generated some slime.

A lighter green which I adore in the Pelikan 200 F is Noodler's Army Green. Admittedly it's a total mismatch for the M200 Cafe Creme but as nteenth generation American I'm allowed to have no sense of aesthetics. It would fit right in with the 140 though!

I actually use Lamy Blue...

Is it drier than Pelikan?

That's the impression I had from the one Lamy ink I own. But, I didn't do any detailed comparison, so I may be wrong.

Dag gum.

I'm gonna have to find a REAL dry ink.

I have two 400s and two 400NNs. I haven't used dry ink in them. Asa Gao has been in them most. That beautiful and well-behaved ink is a joy in vintage Pelikans.

I am a student....

And the paper that is used in school for assignments are unimpressive, in regards to feathering.

So I usually stick with a drier ink so that my pens can be usable for all purposes.

I think Asa-gao is my favorite blue at the moment but it just floods out my current production Pelikan. I'll have to take your advice and try it in my 400NN.

My experience has been that Iroshihzuku inks are generally a bit (or a lot) too wet for a Pelikan. Especially my older model (1990s era) M400 Brown Tortoise. And even some iron gall inks were too wet for an italic medium nib on a M200.

Bought a 1956 tortoise 400 NN with fine nib. Should be in excellent condition, but with Ebay you can never be sure until its in hand. Also bought a Pelikan pen holder, the large one that holds your pen in its beak. I think I am done, at least for now. In addition to these items, I am still waiting delivery of a Pelikan M600, black and blue and a M205 blue demo. Its fun to get new toys in the mail.

If I had a nickel for every time I said "I think I'm done for awhile now" I could buy another pen.

And would

My latest Pelikan an M200 Tortoise.

L to R M200, 400 OB, 400 B, 400 OM, 500NN F (with 400NN cap for the sake of unity in the photo), M400 Frankenpen made up of new parts with 18ct B nib, M400 F, M400 White/Tortoise M, latest M400 Tortoise EF, M101N F.attachicon.gif DSCF0371.JPG

Lovely pens, Matlock. I really love Pelikan pens - I only have an M805 given me by my uncle when I finished my higher degree! It's so lovely. I can't seem to find other ones at a reasonable price!

I recently had a chance to purchase either a clear, blue, or green demonstrator and just fell for the latter. It needs a flush and a touch of grease but what a beautiful pen.

Oh, you noticed! Yes that made the deal all the more satisfying. Its a bit dry at the moment, but Im hoping a quick flush with J Herbin will sort that next time I clean the pen.

I understand. Pen and ink are important. But, they are dependent upon the paper. When you have an opportunity, try a wetter ink. I thoroughly enjoy my wetter, saturated inks in all my Pelikans.
