Two new members of the flock finally made it across the Atlantic today, weathering snow, storms, couriers and customs. Both give me tremendous pleasure.

I didn't think I would like demonstrators in person, but the detail and quality is terrific.

With thanks to Rick Propas who helped the other very special bird come into my possession.

I got my Pelikan M120 Iconic Blue from Cult pens yesterday. I am really liking the pen but wish the nib was more to size. It's labeled B but does not write as wide as my M805 M and is just about the same as my M200 M. Well with my normal light touch that is. If I press down a little harder, but still not flex the tines, it's more of an B. I am okay with it. It's very smooth even on cheeper paper and I am happy with the pen. I have it filled up with Robert Oster Blue Water Ice and happy with how it flows and shades from the pen.

Got a bottle of Amethyst. This was easily the most expensive bottle of ink so far, but this ink is really, really nice. Why this ink isnt a part of the standard line...what a shame. Such a great shading ink.

It has a lapis counterpart I’d love to add to the collection one day.

There is one... kind of...

Delta custom-made a pen from the same lapis material for Martini Pens (which seem to be annual limited editions), which are by Regina Martini at http://www.martiniauctions.com

The pen is at https://www.martiniauctions.com/item/id/Martini_The_Vintage_fountain_pen_Limited_Edition_9_24500.html

-- Joel -- "I collect expensive and time-consuming hobbies."

INK (noun): A villainous compound of tannogallate of iron, gum-arabic and water,

chiefly used to facilitate the infection of idiocy and promote intellectual crime.

Thanks! It’s a very nice pen but not a Pelikan. The Jade, despite what little I know of its history, sits comfortably in my growing collection of Pelikans. On the other hand, I have this vague idea of a collection of lapis pens but that is for another day.

Gone all Pelikan ...

Just ordered a nice IB nib from Germany for an M800. Will either use it on one of my M800s or buy a decent priced M800 without nib on Ebay.

Congrats, IB nibs are great. But it is very likely cult pens has it for lower price...plus you'd get a free Pelikan leather pouch with it.

I remember coming across this fabled pen in an older Rick Propas post, so I am thrilled to have acquired one from Regina Martini, who tells me that in thirty-eight years of collecting and trading Pelikans, this is one of only 3 or 4 M800 Lasers she has come across.

Similar to the Jade M800 prototype, this was made in Italy by Pelikan and Visconti. Because it was unauthorised by Pelikan Germany, they bought back and destroyed as many as they could get. Of the original 100 pieces, there may be only 40-60 still in existence.

Regina fitted this with a B (pf mark) nib, which is original for the pen's time.
