Beautiful picture Lam1. And it looks exactly like the one you "talked me into buying"

Mine just arrived. 2 days from the UK! Wow. And it wrote perfectly right out of the box with but a quick rinse. EF nib and 4001 Turquoise. I like it much better than I did in pictures and I'm glad I changed my mind on this one.

And before I get ribbed for "finally" buying a pen this year, I just looked on the inventory program and I see that I have purchased 4 Pelikans, 2 MB, and 2 Pilot VPs so far this year. Yes, much off of last year's pace, but I couldn't do that over a long period of time. I think 8 fairly expensive pens in 3 1/2 months is just fine (and I've bought a few chess sets too, so there's that...).

Now we need to see an 800 and a1005 :P

Beautiful pen. I really want to get this one as well! The blue has always struck me as lovely. I remember seeing it before I was into fountain pens (and paying a handful for them)...

If I had seen it in person I would have bought it long ago, it's my most beautiful pen; I have no regrets with my other pens but I'm thinking this is my perfect pen. I'm still trying to figure out which ink goes better with it, Inti was fine but not spectacular, Souten came out too pale, Lie de Thé refused to cooperate, Kon Peki looks better where it was... Now trying Myosotis.

Thanks, BillH.

But, me talking anybody into buying Pelikans? Noooo! :lticaptd:

Congrats on the new bird.

You inked yours with the same ink my wife inked hers. It's a perfect match isn't it?

Hers is a B that wrote marvelously out of the box.

You've got a fair number of good pens there.

I must say that I'm in waiting mode for the M800 and M1005 as well

(as long as I don't have insomnia, the wallet is safe :P ).

But why is Pelikan making us wait so much?

Usually by this time of the year at least one M800 has been announced.

This one was an interesting surprise. I got a pretty good buy on an old style M400 with a BB nib. When the pen arrived it was cosmetically in better condition that I expected, but the piston was pretty stiff so I decided to lube it.

When I went to unscrew the nib unit, I found that it was a friction fit.

It baffled me for a bit since it is obviously a modern plastic feed, and the other features didn't make it seem like a franken-pen. A quick search here, and I learned that there was a period when the M400 was first introduced (or reintroduced if you will) that they tried using friction fit nib units.

The Cafe Creme will probably be my next one. I only have 4 pens including the one on it's way. So, after my wallet revives from this plus the extra bunches of ink, pen case, notebooks and what not that I got.. I'll start hunting down the other model and maybe some vintage nibs. :)

Has that one been reissued? Or are you getting one from off eBay (one of the Japanese or Malaysian sellers)? I had one and lost it and then managed to find a used one on eBay and then lost *it* :crybaby: (although there's a little piece of me going "surely it's just here in the house someplace..."). And at the moment I can't really justify the expense of getting a third one. And the color is gorgeous.

I have to admit, your pic of this pen has turned my head. I thought this one might be a little too froo-froo for me (this from a guy who thinks the stressman is a bit too 'stuffy'). Anyway I am sure your pic has shown this pen in its very best light. Complicated all the more by the fact that the M600 is the perfect fit for me.

I'm stuck on the horns of a dilemma here as I have recently stumbled upon a classic (c1928) Parker Senior Lapis Duofold which would fill a gap in a minor collection I have been slowly building. Oh the terrible challenges that life lays before us on the path!

+1

I have a M400 from the early 80s with the same friction fit nib nib unit.

timesflowstemmed, that is a beautiful pen. Is it a replica or an original? I love my m101Ns.

Just received a Pelikan 205 I ordered a month ago from Japan. Its plain black with a B nib. I just got a 200 BB nib the other day from Rolfe and I'm going to switch out the nib and fill it with shimmering black ink.

Not original. That would be nice but wow. This is from the Originals of their Time series.

Gone all Pelikan ...

Just be mindful to avoid prolonged sun or water exposure as these older materials don't react like the modern ones do. Doesn't looks so good when the black parts turn brown.

DrCodfish,

This is actually a quick and dirty cell phone pic in the office. I did a basic color correcting only and think it is close to the real thing. The pen is, in my opinion, a beauty.

But, I must say, between this and a Senior Lapis Duofold... it is a very tough decision. I also have a soft spot for the vintage duofolds, and the Lapis is gorgeous. Good luck with your decision.

Funny that you mention the Stresemann. Last night I was checking my birds for rings caused by the cap, for another thread, and found out that my M805 Stresemann and my wife's M400 White Tortoise have a defect: the barrel under the binding is full of concentric rings like the pic below illustrate

fpn_1523674221__img_3458.jpg

It gives the pen a milky appearance. Very different from my wife's M405 Stresemann!

Now, it is to see if Pelikan will do anything for me. Not holding my breath, though.

And my no-more-pens-this-year went down the role, bought the newest Ranga group buy :-/

Now Im serious, no more pens. Please TWSBI stop launch limited editions.

Yeah, that's definitely being on the horns of a dilemma....

The problem for me is that I'd want them BOTH. But can currently afford NEITHER.....

Another older, but goody. Pelikan 100 (or N) with CN nib. Bought from our classifieds from limitlesspens. Took a week or so from Germany. Excellent condition. Does not have a cork piston seal. Going to grease piston, clean and fill with ink. Giving a bit of candy like the rest of the German sellers, but the best yet. He included a BIG bar of German dark chocolate.

That is a dandy. Fact is I just purchased another pen from Limitless, oddly enough a Parker Vacumatic.

Is it just me or does the world look a little more cheery when you know there is a pen somewhere out there winging its way to you?

As someone who's recovering from a knee injury...knowing that several pieces of Pelikan gear are on their way to me are the only thing that keep me going nowadays. I know it's sad I'm "buying happiness", but when I realized it is highly likely I'll be bed ridden for several weeks and up to 2 months, I went on a shopping spree everything Pelikan I wanted. Oh well.

Hope you get better soon. I think that was smart. Ours is one of the few hobbies one can enjoy in bed.

By the by, My CN nib on the aforesaid new 100 is stuck and unable to be removed. I admit to not using a lot of force. I have soaked it overnight in hopes of loosening it up.

Thanks! I dont know much about 100 series, but I can tell you rubber (feed) has about 7x higher coefficient of thermal expansion than steel. In worst case, you can cool it down in a freezer a bit, then the nib should come off. Just in case its not the ink that is a problem. If ink is the culprit and it wont come off with soaking in water, you can try ink removal solution. You dont really have to buy the expensive Rohrer und Klingner solution, you can make your own. I remember sbrebrown has a receipe on his youtube channel.
