I don't know much about these pens, but I know what I like. I have always thought they were some of the classiest pens Pelikan ever made. I see Carey Grant helping Audrey Hepburn from a 1956 Mecedes190SL at the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo. Here's my tortoise version:

Finally the M800 nib set is complete. The last missing nib size arrived in the post today. Hooray!

Wow! That's a hard one to get, Zaddick. Congrats!

We need some writing samples :puddle:

Yeah! Pix or it didn't happen!

I want to see how much ink that sucker puts down after my experiences with the IM nib on my second M200 Café Crème -- which was a firehose even by Pelikan standards (and even with iron gall ink...).

It has been some time since I have been able to post a new acquisition here. It's not that I have lost the fire so much as my pen interests have narrowed: New offerings generally don't hold much attraction for me, my tastes run to vintage Pelikans, and unfortunately these are often so expensive that I have to save to pick one off.

This modern reproduction breaks those rules: It's not 'sell the baby' expensive, and I have always really liked the look. I missed on a couple offerings recently, so I did not hesitate when this one came up. A new pen is always a good feeling but capturing something which has been alluding you for some time is especially satisfying. It's a B nib and pretty 'blobby' so will be making a trip to the nib meister for a regrind to CI.

Now, to feed the pig for that vintage Gray 100n.

I really like that black stripe 500 of yours, I didn't know they were offered in that color, and a triple B too, extra special. You always find the greatest pens!

Received these 3 yesterday:

M1000 Black - EF, M805 Ocean Swirl - F, and M805 Vibrant Blue - EF

Thought I'd give an update:

Switched nibs between ocean swirl (F) and Vibrant blue (EF) and kept the ink same (OS still unused so the ink was in vibrant blue). F nib from the ocean swirl puts down exactly the same line width as the EF on the Vibrant blue with the same ink.

Nice going, Pelikan.

On the way still : M400 IB nib, M800 IB nib, bottle of Smoky Quartz.

Received today...this beauty. With a wonderful B nib that is no "kugel", but a flat out stub.

The 140 has a 14C gold fine nib, as stated on the sticker. Just flushed it with water and Goulet's flush. Will see how it writes tomorrow. Piston feed works, but a bit stiff. Hope I don't have to send this one off to Propas. There was only one bid, mine, but it had a reserve of $99.99 which is what I paid for it. Looks like a new one.

You will just need to grease the inside of the barrel a little bit.

The piston won't be like a brand new Pelikan, but I think the synthetic seal would most likely still have life left in it.

I also just received another 140. The seller described it as a flexible fine. It is very fine, but not flexible. There is a world of difference between a stiff fine or EF, and flexible examples of either. The price was very good. The condition is excellent. And, I have several other flexible 140 nibs. So everything is good, despite the poor description.

Lubed the 140's piston with silicone grease and its slick as a new one. filled it with black ink and it writes great with a flex fine. Yah Hoo. Damn good pen for a C note.

pomperopero, thank you for those many photos of your new Pelikan. It's so nice to see not only your fountain pen but also the work of its cursive italic nib (and that elegant pen wrap, too!) Very helpful to those of us new to FPN who are hungry for pictures of Pelikans and the "calligraphy" they can produce (not that there aren't many already, scattered throughout the history of this forum... but it's fun to see the photos with the text). My camera cannot do close-ups (although the telephoto can simulate a close-up to some degree). What did you use to take these great shots?

They are kick @$$ pens!

I love 'em.

More than any modern Pelikan.

HA!

I sound so pompous.
