Custom Pen And Ink Storage Cabinet

That's a beautiful cabinet! I could imagine my pens and ink feeling nice and cozy in there. :cloud9: Now I just need a house again where I can mount something like this. My small SF apartment doesn't really have any wall space to spare.

I could always make yours smaller :eureka: :eureka: :eureka:

Come see some of my handmade pens!!!

I agree the burl of the wood is so nice that putting large handles on it almost takes away from the beauty of the wood. Maybe some sort of push to open latch?

I don't know for sure but that piece is very nice.

It reminds my of some of the fine smoking pipe cabinets 292-push-open-system-for-cabinet-push-op

Thank you for the wonderful idea!!!! I will now be kicking myself everytime I open the doors. :D

The cabinet (design, material, & craftsmanship) is stunning! If I were of a mind to store my collection in a work of art, you'd have my business.

Just 2 cents worth: I do agree that art deco chrome pulls would enhance its appearance. Push to open mechanisms on your next cabinet are a possibility only if they don't interfere with your storage.

Thank you. The biggest bummer about not thinking of the push to open mechanism is that it would've enhanced the storage capabilities. I actually made the pen racks about an inch to an inch and a half smaller to accommodate the screws for the handles I used. I could've fit another 4 pens in there if I would've thought about the push mechanism ahead of time. From the looks of the comments, I will probably be using chrome art deco pulls on the next iteration.

I think the chrome Art Deco pulls will be beautiful.

Wow - congratulations on a superb realisation!

As a budding wood worker, I can only admire and keep training - patiently - until I reach this level of perfection

Ebony handles would be wonderful btw

Incredible work! Regarding the handles, antique brass or push to open, imho.
