Fantastic work, I understand just how therapeutic and rewarding pen restoration can be, also the moments of frustration (removing parker 61 hood).

That mottled no.12 safety MB on your site is of the unicorn realm.

If you fancy a challenge I have a celluloid 142 with loose cap bands, a repair beyond my skill / equipment set, would you like bash at restoring it?

Hi there! To be honest that is currently a repair beyond the capabilities of my equipment. But I wholeheartedly recommend Francis Goossens (AKA fountainbel at FPN).

I am glad you are enjoying the website. We are fortunate that generous FP owners from around the world are kind enough to share their collection with the website.

All the best!

This sheaffer needed a new sac. Also it was leaking at the nib/section joint so I disassembled the nib and applied a rosin based sealant of 1:1 rosin:liquid paraffin and then reassembled.

The Parkers pressure bar was bent out of shape and so I straightened it instead of simply using a new one. It needed a new sac too.

Some tuning to this rather beat-up Pink nib and it’s in working condition now:

Super work! It's great to see your love and respect for these wonderful old writing instruments. :happyberet:

I just wanted to extend my compliments to Siamackz for his generosity!

This is what makes the pen community in general and FPN in particular a wonder!

Thanks to Siamackz and to the many others that give so freely!

Some of my pens.

Thats very kind and encouraging of you! I have been inspired by the generosity of other members, just as you rightfully pointed out, and am trying to contribute what little I can as well. Thanks again!

Hi Siamackz, I recently got a Mabie Todd Self Filler. I've restored it to the best of my ability, but the Sheaffer's 3-25 flex nib has some growing cracks alongside the breather hole. As an amateur restorer, can you give me some pointers on what to do in this scenario?

I also recently received a Parker 51 Special, but there are large cracks on the section and barrel. Can you tell me how to fix these?

Thy, both issues are beyond the capabilities of a novice IMHO. I give laser welding for cracks out to expert goldsmiths. As for fusing cracks, that is pretty complex stuff. You would need to do some research and think it through. Not easy. If the pen is not worth pro support then you can PM me with pics and I can try to help with advice. All the best!

I see, thanks! I've fixed cracks before, but only on a Parker 45. I'm really scared of actually performing it on an expensive pen, considering those less than decent results that came with unorthodox supplies. I'll PM you about this!

About the laser-wielding, who would you suggest? Because of the nature of cracks, would it be better to send it at this point of the crack, or would it be better to send it in once the crack's gotten bigger?

For some reason I cant see the pics youve uploaded. Best to ask a pro. I get mine done from a friend, but he doesnt do it commercially. I keep reading Greg Minuskins name in threads. He might be worth contacting?

Actually, I have looked into him! I was going to actually contact him but I was afraid his prices were going to be too high, even if the repair he does is top notch!

I'm low on funds (student), and being very popular with the repair threads, I was quite sure this his quote might be too high for me to handle. Anyhow, I emailed you the pictures! - Thy

Transplanted the lever from a broken pen to this 54. But, as often happens when I try to repair lever boxes, the tab on this one broke off. This meant that I had to solder a replacement tab. I took the tab off another broken lever box and after much trying it is finally done! This was not the prettiest or easiest restoration, but it is rewarding to know the owner is happy and appreciative:
