I finally purchased the MB 149 gold trim. I also ordered the MB mystery black ink. This is my first MB fountain pen. I did an inventory check and I own all Asian fountain pens so this will also be my first European FP. (I like the Pilot fountain pens). I am excited for the pen to arrive. This is my first "grail" pen.

...just a few quick iPad pictures from my new pen :-)

Finally I was able to add a PL to my collection. Its a Meisterstück 124PL in platinschwarz (platinum black).

Cheers

@Fountainpencrazy & dubhe: the Christie is one of the nicest and elegant Writers Edition pens! Very nice. It‘s so different from the more recent limited editions. Subtle but yet striking at the same time!

@farmdogfan: love the high top of the pencil! Interesting how those vintage pencils look so different compared to the fountain pens. Nice find.

@meblamy: I like mine very much. Especially after I had rhe nib changed to an EF. Also I got a blue Satorial foldable pen case to match the pen.

Thanks for showing those great additions!

Cheers

Michael

I spotted a Broad nibbed 149 being sold as a Medium on eBay and snapped it up. The pen is early 80's with bi-colour 14C, 2-section barrel, split ebonite feed, plastic threads etc.

I really like the nib, but the feed must be clogged as it will not write without pressure. I flushed it with Herbin and lubed the piston etc, but still not quite right. Looking at the photos, anyone else think the collar is screwed too far into the barrel?

Looks good on the pictures and the split ebonite feed usually make great writers. Nib looks good, too.

Maybe more cleaning/flushing will help.

On those pens colllar and nib/feed housing are an one-piece construction so it should be mounted correctly.

Good luck

Michael

Farmdogfan I really like the pencil. I have seen them in coral before but not black.

Today I visited the local boutique and decided to get the new Meisterstück Doue Le Petit Prince. I got it in a fine nib. I got the ink bottle and cartridges (even the notebook, got a little carried away, lol.) The ink is called red fox. Looks like the orange from UT Longhorns (for those familiar with college sports in the US). A beautiful color. I included a 2 line writing sample.

I love the book and got really excited when I saw the nibs design. Im afraid the light and my iPhone camera didnt capture how beautiful is the pen, the blue color on the barrel looks much better in real life.

The handwriting sample you provided is very helpful. Thank you for the images.

It shows the Red Fox ink well. Your new pen's fine nib lays down a clear line — nice!

May the Doué Le Petit Prince provide much writing pleasure in the years to come.

Just picked up another pen earlier today along with another bottle of ink :)

While it is in fact a grey ink, it does lean towards the brown/golden especially when wet.

Great collection :) Don't you have the solitaire version too?

No pics yet but just ordered the Montblanc le petit prince LeGrand with an EF nib. Went for the resin section version and counting the days until it arrives. Likely to be the end of this month though so for now will live vicariously off others photos.

OK, now I can ask again: does the 18k nib of the 1906 ebonite feel different to the 14k of the others, and how is it compared to the 1912? I am a happy owner of the 1912 if you recall, and as you are also enthusiastic but also have the others to compare I woukd like to know what you think.

I'm really trying to find another Montblanc I want, but I may have started with the best one for me...
