I don't know whether to be proud of my resolve, or mad at my slackness... the 2nd is almost over and I have not bought a pen yet this year!

But congrats to you all, I'm very jealous, all these new acquisitions. Happy New Pen Year!

Thanks for the comments. I'm excited over the pen purchases.

The Peggy was a work gift, a bonus for a good year of work. I'm very happy.

I bought Virginia to commemorate a special and very significant event in my life. It's a set and I'll be keeping the fountain pen, while my significant other keeps the ballpoint.

The 1912 was Christmas gift from my siblings. It too is special.

It's been a good begining to the year

That's my kind of annual bonus!

I've told friends that the POA Peggy Guggenheim sticks in my thoughts.

Fitting it with an OB nib is brilliant!

What a stylish way to begin 20181

Enjoy!

Hmmm, I'm going to have to figure out how to get my employer to start bonusing with MB FPs :D

Yesterday I brought home my new toy. It is 149-Pt equipped with B nib. I was surprised that in the packing was now without the ink bottle, also the paperwork is simpler; no 149 brochure as previously. Nonetheless the pen itself is a real meisterstück. The nib is very smooth. The writing is a pleasant experience.

As to the ink I decided for Irish Green. I like it.

The pen as well as its sibblings has got its own Meisterstück pouch. This type of case is proven by time; some of them I have been using about fifteen years without visible wear and tear.

A box of Montblanc chocolate as a gift has become a „minhag“ when buying a new pen. :)

Sorry for no pictures. I am not allowed to insert attachments to my inputs.

I kind of need to start in the 2017 thread and end it here :D

I bought a 146 Bordeaux Meisterstück from ebay. It was announced as new...however it didn't write when I received. Bummer...so I went to the Hamburg boutique and talked to them.

They send it for servicing and told me 67 Euros...today I got the call and I picked it up. They exchanged the feed and now it works like a charm :)

And best thing is...I didn't need to pay :) Maybe because they know me there by name already..hehe...don't know if that is a good thing or bad thing ;)

Bordeaux color is really nice. And the nib is pretty smooth as well...my Blue Hour is waaaaaay smoother though...Do you guys know why?

Congrats to your Bordeaux colored 146! I never saw one in person.

It is interesting that you wrote about the smoothness of the Blue Hour, because I had a similar impression when I tested one two weeks ago. I found it smoother than the general 146, too. Unfortunately the Blue Hour was a little out of Budget that time ... But I was extremely impressed by its nibs. (Both I tested had a broad nib.)

Will post a picture soon. Kind of dark here already in Germany :D

Yeah the blue hour is buttery smooth. Its almost toooo smooth if there is such thing. I like it though.

The Bordeaux is not scratchy but its definitely not as smooth as the blue hour. My 149 is not as smooth as the blue hour as well. I was just wondering why...

CONGRATULATIONS on your new Platinum 149 B!

It's very good news that it writes well for you in Irish Green.

May you enjoy it in 2018 and beyond.

Got this a few days ago :)

Haha, I was just telling my husband that if our BMW client adviser doesn't throw in some BMW ink and the 149 pen as part of our new lease deal, I'm walking away. I love that color too!

Current Wishlist:

Visconti, Visconti, and...more Visconti! (And some ST Duponts too). (Ok fine, getting on the Omas and Montblanc trains now too. Toot toot.) (And maybe on the Montegrappa one too, but only for the Miyas.)

I've had the opposite experience. The Blue Hour skipped and I sent it back to MB for tuning. Still not satisfied with it. My Bordeaux 146 and 147 pens are some of the best MB writers out of the box I've had.

I managed to snag a 147 in Bordeaux and am super excited to get it.....hopefully by Saturday. Wanted one in the Bordeaux for my collection and also at least a 146 size. I like the idea of the Traveller so I can just do cartridges and not worry about ink refills etc. Woohoooo!

Yup, a very fast 10 years passed buy. The good news... closer to retirement.

I was looking at a 147 in Bordeaux also. It is a good option and less likely to require service longer term due to fewer moving parts. Good choice.

Thank you for your kind words. ... A beautiful pen with smooth nib of the right width, nice ink and a calligraphy grade paper ... What I need more?
