Thanks for keeping us up to date Tom!

I hope the flex nibs won't be much more expensive than the normal ones, otherwise I'll have no chance of getting one in the near future (1-2 years).

Looking very much forward to pictures and writing samples of these nibs though.

Tom,

I love the color of that ink...does it have a purple hue to it?

Kindest Regards,

David

I have been enjoying pens and inks... I just wanted to share one of my favorite pen/nib and the inks it has used for this past year. Note: i keep to a single ink until the bottle is done.

I am warming to the MB Golden Yellow in an OBB.

After six weeks of anxious waiting for a nib exchange, my foray from fine nibs to broads can begin :D .

I apologize up front for the picture quality...I'm lens limited.

Wow, you make the pen look so beautiful!! Thank you for sharing such details.

The nib inked on the close up is just mesmerizing!

And the composition of the pen+ink+ notebook is breath taking!

Enjoy the double broad!

Im flattered, especially as your pictures are all so wonderful. I was just doing the best I could with no macro lense and poor lighting 😃. I am thoroughly enjoying the OBB so far, although Im still getting used to writing with an oblique. I write in quick print so the nib comes off the paper quite a bit...still miss the sweet spot occasionally when it comes back down leading to some skipping. Edited by CBK

~ The following information has been received from someone who has handled prototypes of the Expression nib.

Montblanc's Expression Nib has had its name changed back from Calligraphy to Expression Nib. It's still slated for release in September, 2019.

There will be two different Expression nibs offered.

The Meisterstück 149 Expression Nib will have a really fine point of around 0.3 mm.

It's been designed to flex up to 1.1 mm with an impressive ink flow.

Writing without pressure the ink flow is very light but never stops. With pressure the ink flow impressively increases.

The Meisterstück 146 Solitaire Expression Nib will a bit easier to write with and also a bit wider.

Very excited and cannot wait until September.

I had the meeting on Thursday with the representative from Hamburg a 1-on-1 over some hors d'oeuvres where there was a table with all the 2019 pieces.

Thankful for Tom Kellie for sharing the specific measurements of the nibs, but would like to note the following amendments / details:

The Calligraphy is a new line of yearly pens. This year, it is Calligraphy: Expression. Next year, Calligraphy: Emotion.

There will be a 149 with a yellow gold expression nib, a lacquered 146 Solitaire (details withheld as per FPN requirements) with a black expression nib and a Maki-E Artisan with the same. Sorry cannot post pictures :(

These nibs for all three pens can be ordered as M which can flex to BB+ or a F which should flex to B.

Aside from that, I suspect that all 3 versions of Great Characters are going to be a smash with clients- they're already taking orders now as they expect them to sell out almost right away.

The POAs are very nice, but I was particularly taken by the WE. Has some personal elements that may appeal to a lot of people, i.e fathers in specific.

The Heritage R/N this year is made of marble. It has a very different touch/feel to it. Although it maintains the same design.

The great characters should be a very easy marketable hit and success... I'm waiting to see it in person to make my choice...

That being said, the POA is supposedly made of stone! If so, it will pair nicely with my Gaius maecenas nicely for more reasons than one.

It should be a nice season for pens.

Oh, and the calligraphy nibs and designs are interesting... But for those we have to wait and see how they perform.
