Happy late Birthday, Tom! Congratulations. Have been traveling and off the web for a while. What a wonderful event for your students to have a party for you. Hope all is well for you in Hong Kong considering the current repression & public's response.

Tom,

Thank you for your writing samples. I truly appreciate it. What I most care about is how does the ink look on paper using various nibs...can I use it in a professional setting. Please do not stop. You cannot please everyone. I guess I'm too simple...however if you would post the molecular structure it would be greatly appreciated : )

Regards,

David

~ When one makes careless mistakes, it helps to have capable friends.

Yesterday afternoon an especially lively class of 3 Hong Kong thirteen year-olds discussed the effects of black holes passing through space-time.

It required agility of mind to keep up with their thinking, fact citation, and interest in such ramifications as wormholes.

Due to the ongoing situation in the local area (our classroom is across the street from the Futian Checkpoint entrance to Hong Kong), three other students were unable to attend.

The English language discussion was boisterous, rollicking, and free-ranging.

The motion picture “Interstellar” was cited, as were several recent article concerning immense mass black hole effects on space-time configuration.

While this was going on, yours truly was occasionally jumping in with vocabulary in order to refine the level of the discussion.

My notes and comments were written with a Montblanc 90th Anniversary 149 BB nib inked in Montblanc Homage to Hadrian Rosso Antico.

When the class ended, it had gone fully one hour overtime, due to student enthusiasm.

A 1.5 hour return trip by two subway lines and a bus brought me back to Yubi and my kitchen, ready to prepare dinner.

However...

No BB 149 pen! I'd apparently walked out and left it on the desk in the open door classroom.

Calling my boss, I explained the situation. Fifteen minutes later he called to confirm that the pen was in the safekeeping of another thirteen year old student who would return it to me today.

A snapshot of the pen was sent from the student's home to reassure me.

As it's my first-ever time of neglecting to replace a fountain pen in the pen case, I felt fortunate to be supported by such loyal and capable friends.

Where I work and live is having a mild, gentle Autumn of pleasant sunny days with gentle breezes. Life is good!

Are you in Switzerland now? Oh what a gorgeous place! I hope that you have a wonderful time! And I hope Yubi is enjoying his time as well.

Good thoughts travel with you!

Wow! What a wonderful student! That is highly admirable! And I am glad that you were able to locate it so quickly.

I hope you and your students stay safe.

Tom, thank you for posting the beautifully presented writing made with the new dark red Montblanc ink. Would you say this Montblanc ink is quite similar in appearance to your Fritz Schimpf Fritzrot ink? You have posted sample writing made with both inks, but not yet side-by-side. I really like the look of both of the inks and wonder how they compare.

Edit: I should have searched more thoroughly-- Fritz Schimpf actually offers a comparison photograph of their own!

~ Intensity:

The Montblanc Homage to Hadrian Rosso Antico ink both looks and feels different than Fritz Schimpf Fritzrot.

Fritzrot reminds me of certain Burgundies, having the rich, almost dark cherry-like colors of a Grands Echézéaux.

By contrast, Homage to Hadrian Rosso Antico has a warmer shade, like an Italian Barolo wine.

Both inks are favorites of mine as they're well-suited for use at work.

That's a fine comparison, Tom--thank you for that :) I reminded myself that Rosso Antico is perhaps similar to my beloved Colorverse Dark Energy ink, so I'll hold off for now.

Ho Ho Ho!

Pre-Thanksgiving, no less.

Very, very, very impressive, my friend.

You've covered all of the bases, the infield and the outfield.

Thank you so much for unveiling your ‘Three Graces’ in this thread.

Such rare beauty is intensified when shown in such dazzling precious metal hues.

Happy Holiday Writing!

With Admiration,

Tom K.
