Under the Magnifying Lens

Another great shot! I regret not having purchased one of the 90th anniversary pens a couple years ago. The nib is simple and beautiful.

Inspired by Tom to post a nib shot :) Thank you for taking the time to keep making the Montblanc thread a pleasure to read.

Some backstory on this B nib... I had it swapped from an F to a B a little over two years ago. The nib exchange cost was higher than I had anticipated, but it was so worth it and I'm very happy that I did it. I didn't enjoy using the F nib much, so for the longest time, I would open the pen, write a sentence or two to admire it, and switch to another pen. As a B nib, it has become my daily writer and Broad nibs have become my go-to size in modern Montblancs.

Lovely nib.

Thank you AndyLogan! As a lover of anything with a celestial/magical/mystical vibe, It's one of my favorite nib designs ever. PS great avatar by the way. Jean was and will always be my number one x-man. It's hard to beat the phoenix/dark phoenix saga in the comics and then again in the 90s animated series.

Please pardon my limited knowledge of Montblanc nibs.

Is that a Copernicus nib?

Or is it another model?

The image is striking with the ink beyond 4810, highlighting the design elements.

That you like B nibs is especially good to know!

The Cervantes comeback on its origin (Spain) but rather on an island than on terra firma. They are with the Petit Prince notebook of 2019 found at the duty free airport of Brussels at the departure.

The 1906 serpent is stunning, I might have to snag one myself. Its their best looking serpent FP by MB. Love the gold accents with platinum coating.

Would love more pictures Cyrille if and when you get the chance.

Thank you for the beautiful pictures, your flickr is delightful. One question, blue hour skeleton or unicef skeleton? Also, which one is your most favorite MB FP from your collection.

It is the Copernicus! It's one of their pens where all of their choices (from form to function) appealed to me, so it was a must buy.

I'm happy you liked the nib image :) I use the 4810 as a guide when filling, because it makes ink cleanup so much easier and it looked interesting too so took the photo. (There's one more I'm just about to post in the new pens thread!)

Their B nibs were a true Goldilocks moment. (Every couple of months, I try out testers, and: the OB and my hand do not get along; the BB ends up looking messy; the OBB is a joy to use but requires a little more effort, so it's one that will be added at some point hopefully.) What is your favorite size from their standard lineup?

Thank you Tom for your photos of MB store and your writing sample with the Kipling If ink. I hope I will have mine soon. Tomorrow I'm going to Paris to visit Toutankhamon's exhibition and normally I should visit the MB store of Champs-Elysées to buy some inks and maybe notebook :)

Thank you for the confirmation. Having never seen one, aside from photos, I was uncertain.

Using the 4810 as a filling mark is a great idea. You've illustrated it well in a delightful nib image.

I've never had favorites of much of anything for decades. I seem to enjoy a range of possibilities in all aspects of life.

In Montblanc's present standard range, it's difficult to say.

It may be both EF and BB. Each is useful in a different context.

I'm glad you liked the images of the Montblanc Mini-Boutique at Shenzhen's Coastal City.

It's one of the smallest Montblanc outlets I've seen.

Nevertheless it was a pleasure to see the merchandise after a long spell without seeing anything new from Montblanc.

A visit to the Tutankahmun exhibition in Paris sounds like a wonderful opportunity.

When I was an undergraduate, one of my instructors took our class to see a Tutankahmun exhibition in Seattle, Washington, USA.

It made a strong impression on me, as the high skill of the artisans was unlike anything in my limited experience.

May your shopping visit to Montblanc Champs-Elysées be wonderful!

Tom, I am delighted to return home and learn you succeeded in acquiring a bottle of the Kipling Green; indeed, the only bottle in the Boutique. I hope you continue to enjoy it!! I need to take the train to Trenton, NJ tomorrow and your post inspires me to bring my 149 B along, already inked with this camping green!

Hi Tom,

EF and BB sound like the best of both worlds. Ive never tried their EFs and you have me curious about them now, so I will see if I can test one when I go check out the new Expression nib.

PS thank you for sharing photos of the mini boutique! Even as a mini, its more impressive than most of the MB boutiques Ive seen so far.
