Tom,

It’s a great pleasure to read your contributions to the Forum, and I enjoy the many excellent photographs you post.

Your handwritten notes are always especially well-considered, and show a still centre, a keen intelligence and wisdom, which I’m sure will stand you in good stead as you navigate the changes ahead. Best wishes to you :)

Redemption of a Lemon Pen

Three and a half months ago I took my Miles Davis with F nib back to the Montblanc boutique in Tysons Corner, VA for what must have been the upteenth time. I will not recap the entire back-story in this thread as I have told it numerous times in other posts on this forum, however I had sent this particular pen back to the Dallas Service Center (DSC) about 6 times over the course of 3 years of ownership. After the pen came back the last time with tool marks maring the nib I sat down and had a long conversation with the Manager of the boutique, Robert.

I had tired of the consistently poor workmanship and quality control out of the DSC and wanted to go in a different direction. Since I was going to have to get the nib replaced anyways I decided to take the jump into a bespoke nib. Inspired by the many posts on this thread, in particular Tom K.'s small signature nib; and wanting to give a nod to the musical legacy of the pen's namesake, I requested a cross between a small signature and music nib. After a back and forth discussion detailing my requirements, writing style, and mediums I sat back and waited.

Fourteen weeks later I received a call that my pen was in, an 18 kt, 5.5B Signature Music Nib. Please pardon my penmanship and photo quality, I lack both penmanship as well as a macro lense for my camera :) .

What a lovely bespoke nib. I hope it makes the entire pen a sustainable treasure.

Ghost Plane is going to be thrilled. I love this nib! Congratulations on a spectacular choice. It follows without saying that I am jealous. 5.5 B, eh? (Makes secret plans.....)

The Victor Hugo poem is an outstanding addition to this thread.

Thank you so much for posting it here.

As ever, your pen and handwriting sample photography sets a high standard in this forum.

I read the entire poem twice, admiring your penmanship, Hugo's words, and the excellence of the pen nibs, inks and the notebook.

The elegance of your writing is a joy to read. That reflects the advantage of writing with premium materials.

To express my appreciation for your kind posting, I've prepared a poem by Guy de Maupassant.

I agree with all of you that CBK's 5.5B Bespoke Music Signature Nib is a remarkable creation.

Once again Axel Nier's gifted team in Hamburg has crafted a one-of-a-kind nib with flair and practicality.

Seeing that nib here underscores the high value of Montblanc Bespoke Nibs.

No, the Meisterstück 149 Elbphilharmonie Special Edition / (AKA) Montblanc Meisterstück 149 Hamburg. 2016, has engraved the Elbphilharmonie building.

Zaddick made a challenge for all of us.

Regards,

Feamat
