What Pens Are You Using Today 2019

While I can’t think of anything I’ve done to deserve it, I recently treated myself to two pens I’ve been lusting after for a while: a Namiki Yukari Royale in vermilion urushi and a Montblanc 149 with a calligraphy flex nib. I originally bought the Namiki with a fine nib thinking it would have more flex than it did, then sent it back to have the nib replaced with a broad. I’m much happier with it now. And the 149 is a dream to write with (maybe now I can sell my 1990’s 149 with a nail for a nib).

Nice one!

There are never too many I guess?
Especially if they make such a tantalizing sight/ picture!

Edited to add the pen I'm using today, while I'm on it: my MB J Verne

The pink True Writer that came with the bottle of Pinkly! I wouldn't call it fugly, more just meh. The proportions are odd, the cap is short compared with body, with the wide band giving it a high-waisted look, like an Empire dress; the cap (which takes 3 turns to unscrew) is distinctly heavier than the barrel, whose girth, while not huge, is larger enough than my usual pens to be noticeable. The color, too, is rather muted - pretty blah actually - nothing like the intense, in-your-face color of the ink. One nice feature is the inner wall of the section fits very tightly around the cartridge, helping to hold it in place.

All that said, the M nib is very smooth and a pleasure to write with.

Today it's been the Noodler's Konrad in Poseidon's Pearl, flex nib, with Noodler's American Aristocracy. I seem to have gotten one of the really dark dusky purple batches. Having some show through and bleedthrough issues, but the ink does seem to be pretty water resistant. The ink was one of my purchases at the Ohio Pen Show last month. I had hesitated getting AA for a long time, because there was no way to ascertain which batch I'd be getting (I didn't like that it was really hit or miss as to which version you'd randomly end up with).

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I just refilled my Sheaffer Balance Craftsman Rose Glow with Montblanc Shakespeare Velvet Red (phew, a mouthful there). Though most of today I used my late 70s Montblanc 149 with Robert Oster Muddy Crown.

Amazing pens and ink combi's from what i see here. Am particularly impressed with Marcwithac's Namiki and MB flex comparison! Wow!

Today's pens for me are:

- Pilot Custom vintage 70's with Iroshizuku Kon-Peki;

- Diplomat Excellence A2 Guilloche with Maruzen Eternal Blue.
