Something of an international theme going today:

Purple TWSBI 580-ALR, 1.1 mm stub -- mostly finishing the fill of Diamine Shimmer Arabrian Nights.

Poseidon Pearl Noodler's Konrad, flex nib -- Noodler's Kung Te Cheng.

Midnight Blue Parker 51 Aerometric, M (?) nib -- diluted KWZI Chicago Blue LE.

Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I'm using the burgundy Sheaffer Valiant TD with 14k Triumph nib that arrived today. It's in quite good condition, plastic's a little dull but no brassing on the cap band and clip, writes pretty smoothly and the filling mechanism works a treat. Have inked it Cacao du Bresil and overall am very pleased.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

First day at work after the one month challenge so I'm back to my (current) EDC, green-stripe M300 with Musk Green, along with a JIF I'm trying out Fuyu-gaki in.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Left to Right

*Pilot Custom 74 - soft fine nib - DeAtramentis Document Black

*Sailor 1911 Large - extra fine nib - Sailor cartridge

*Nemosine Fission - fine nib - Edelstein Onyx

*M&G CEGMA - medium Gullor/Jinhao nib

*Lamy Studio - extra fine nib - Rohrer & Klingner SketchInk, Lotte

*Osmiroid - Gullor/Jinhao medium nib (tweaked to wehhht and smoooth) Iroshizuku Take sumi

And underneath a Unitech Technical Pen /.5 nib.

Although not a fountain pen, I include this to put to rest my rant on Rohrer & Klingner dokumentus. After an eyedropper of White Lightning it has given a satisfactory performance as a technical pen ink. (But I'll never put it in a fountain pen again.)

Currently inked: Ebonite Sailor KoP in medium, Pro Gear black resin (broad), Faber Castell ondoro (medium), Graf Von Faber Castell Classic in platinum (fine). Im trying to force myself to finish all pens before inking any new ones as a general rule - about two of the four are near empty.

Currently inked:

  • Wing Sung 698 - Noodler's 54'th Massachusetts
  • Pilot Metropolitan - J. Herbin Perle Noire
  • Baoer 388 - Custom ink mix: Diamine Prussian Blue + Pelikan Brilliant Black + Noodler's Black with a tiny drop of dishwashing soap as lubricant
  • Jinhao x750 - Custom ink mix: Pelikan Brilliant Black + Noodler's Black with a tiny drop of dishwashing soap.

Using these mostly with Rhodia 80g paper or oem photocopy paper.

I didn't like Noodler's Black (it is not black as I've expected from the reviews I've read, plus too dry. Shaking didn't help, maybe I got a bad batch), so I'm mixing with other of my inks instead of throwing it away in a shelf to forget to give it a purpose, also this instantly becomes a mix test. So far so good.
