Today so far it's been the Sailor Purple Cosmos, zoom nib, with Sailor Jentle Sky High (older version); and the Pink TWSBI 580-AL, B nib, with diluted Akkerman Dutch Masters Stormachtig Blauw.

Today for work I decided on my Lamy dark violet with Diamine imperial purple.

Excellent match.

Today? Mostly a vintage Lamy 2000. Swapped a nib that I love from a broken Lamy 99 to that Lamy 2000 (that I have been trying to love for ages now).

The new yellow gold nib is most excellent (and it makes the 2000 look rad) but it all kind of goes to show that I have issues with the ergonomics of the 2000. What I mean with that is that at the end of the day when I switched to the Pelikan 400NN I had with me it literally felt like a breath of fresh air. You know the feeling that you get when you handle a pen or well, anything, that is... *just right*.

Nothing feels forced, there is no separation between the body and the tool, instead, the tool becomes an extension of the body.

What to make out of this? Feeling conflicted... I really like how the "new" pen looks especially with the yellow gold nib and it feels "mine" because I have customized it but I have little to no desire to use it even with this super nice nib.

Maybe I will keep the 2000 as a conversation piece and example of a pen design to show to others in fountain pen meetups etc., and continue seeking for a replacement section for the 99 (or a whole new pen). I really like the more slim design of the 99, too bad the section developed a crack. :/

Pilot 823, with a B CI by Pendleton Brown. It’s filled with Noodlers Alamo Twilight. The line variation is stellar. The ink... not so much. It is so saturated (or just thick) it hardly shifts in the barrel. It comes our looking less saturated. I like the shading, but not the sort-of rose coloring.

Lamy Aion <EF> with Lamy Blue. I've gotta say, for how similar the Aion and the CP1 look (except Aion is fatter), I thought they'd feel much more similar -- not the case.

Salix has become one of my new favorites for inks. Still can't get over the worries of long-term use of iron galls though (I know KWZ is very safe, and others aren't terrible, and today's inks are nowhere near as harmful as what they were back in the day, but I have my own concerns), and I wish the color were just a tad darker, like Pelikan B-B, which remains my favorite ink. Lamy blue-black is nice for shading but far too dry for frequent use without some fidgeting with photo-flo. I also learned recently why the CON-40 gets so much hate after buying one for my newly purchased Fermo. I've used CON-50s, CON-70s, and cartridges to date and my CON-40 couldn't draw up a decent amount of ink to save its darn life.
