I've just received my Baoer 388 (Parker Sonnet-like) pen in the mail today. So, I've done a video with a writing sample and writing with it for the rest of the day! It is a very pretty, nicely balanced and smooth pen for $4.00 Canadian with free shipping!

What pen brand and model it's that ?

I love Fountain Pens, with hooded nib in the classic style, Parker 51/61 type .

Stefan, it's a Picasso 975.

Picasso makes quite a few nice pens ...you can check out their website. You will have to use Google translate.

Unfortunately many of the Picassos can only be purchased in China. I do not see all of them on Ebay USA. I now have four, with the 5th one--the Picasso 975 now in Miami, FL. being processed thru customs. I see one called the Maya Rhythm that looks interesting (10K nib on Ebay for $119). Also looking forward to adding the Picasso 918 Dreamy Polka to my Picasso lineup.

Mech my 016 showed up today. Found the nib to be relatively smooth, however, not a wet nib. Will do some micromesh. Nice feel in my hand. Like the Koi fish look. Always wanted a Platinum Celluloid Koi Pen, but it was far too expensive for my wallet. It does not have the deep pearlescence of the $300 pen, however, for $19 it is an attractive pen. Caps well and deep. Inked with Sheaffer Skrip Turquoise ink.

My sentiments exactly, except that I also like the facets. Though I still wish I could get stubs or italics or even a medium nib

Well mine came with a medium #5 nib. I was giving thought to a FPR #5.5 1.0 stub, but I will keep the M. nib. My pen came with a 2nd nib and a pen pouch. I also like the facets--very smooth.

Mine is not the Koi red and white but rather the peachy orange / cream / red / orange / dark brown mosaic ; I find this still riveting but less contrasting, the feed is a bit too short for the nib I've put in but it works

That Baoer is a beauty, Helen. I bet you wear those earrings when you write with it. I might pull the trigger on a bronze one but I should wait at least until my Kaigelu 316 shows up next week. :)

Kaigelu 316 is a lovely writing pen. I own both the white/black one, and the Amber one. Both are beautiful, however, the white & black one looks extra pretty.

Helen has them all. In every color. :)

Did your Picasso 975 arrive? Which color did you pick?

The black Kaigelu 316 actually looks very nice as well. I love the white and amber. I almost didn't buy the black first because of the dull pictures on ebay. On certain days it looks the best of the three.

Some of those Picassos are really up there in price. Only a couple of sellers have them on ebay.

Of all the Picassos I use the 902 a lot. It is just perfect.

The 915 of course looks the most impressive and the nib is glassy smooth.

I almost didn't order my 316 because of the dull photos on eBay. But watching Chrisrap52's YouTube video where he showed the chatoyance of this pen in the sunlight, I was convinced.

I was pleasantly surprised today when the mailbox revealed my Kaigelu 316! It came in 11 days! I'm very impressed with both the pen and the packaging/delivery. Kudos to eBay seller "jewelrymathematics". I will buy from you again!

I did a video of the unboxing and initial writing sample. I spent some time cleaning the pen before inking it up. I half filled a Manhattan-sized glass with water and added a drop of dish soap. Then I pushed the soapy water through the nib with my bulb syringe. Once I had rinsed everything clear and dried it, I started the video for inking the pen and doing a writing sample. In doing the first writing sample, the nib skipped badly but only in the upward to the right stroke. I looked at the nib through my magnifier and thought the tines were just slightly misaligned, so I gave one some gentle pressure a couple of times. Without even touching the nib to micro-mesh, it wrote smooth as glass and the flow increased substantially as well. I'm very very pleased with this pen!

The photos on eBay do NOT do this pen justice in the least! The chatoyancy (God I love that word) is astounding and I've tried to capture it in a few photos. I did a second writing sample and did a video pass of it. Even though the nib is as smooth as glass, there is still subtle feedback which is just amazing. The pen does NOT post and a good thing too; it is like a baseball bat posted. However, unposted, it cradles into my hand perfectly. All I can say is WOW! The fact that it was $25 is a double WOW!

You are going to enjoy your Kaigelu 316. They are lovely pens. I thoroughly agree, the pictures of Ebay really do not do this pen justice. There are times even my camera cannot capture the 'chatoyancy' of the pen!

Jinhao LiBai - M. nib. Ink: Chesterfield Antique Shamrock. This #6 Jinhao nib is smooth, with good ink flow.
