Nakaya Naka-ai in Shiro-tamenuri, oblique broad, inked with Sailor Penlux Mò Cobalt Blue (a stunning ink, by the way).

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Rather sadly using a Pilot Varsity today. There was an, um, operator error the other day, and I decapitated my LAMY Al-Star. That was the only actual fountain pen I had on hand. My Varsity is my "emergency backup pen." I just didn't want to resort to a felt-tip, even for a couple days.

Waiting for the new Al-Star to arrive in the mail, largely because I have no idea where to buy pens in person around here.

Three dramatically different writing experiences:

  • A Kaweco Sport, inveterately dry but suddenly masquerading as a wet writer with De Atramentis Brilliant Violet with Copper.
  • A Pelikan 140, producing a smooth and dry but legible line with Waterman Tender Purple. A nice little pen that does its job without drawing attention to the act of writing. I think I'll take this one to work.
  • A Parker Victory, soft and luxurious extra fine, making me want to write even if I have nothing noteworthy to say. Waterfront Dusk looks black from this pen, but then so did Poussiere de Lune.

This is what I currently have inked with me this week:

  • Lamy 2000 (B.) :- Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black
  • Pilot 78G (M.) :- Monteverde Gemstone Fireopal
  • Cross Century Classic II (M.) :- Robert Oster Fire and Ice

However, I will be getting a Pelikan Souverän M1000 (B.) either tomorrow or the day after, so my EDC for the next few weeks will be as follows:

  • Pelikan Souverän M1000 (B.) Black Resin :- {Suggest a safe black ink}
  • Cross Century Classic II (M.) :- Monteverde Gemstone Fireopal

Getting ready for the holidays,...be here before you know it.

Oh my -- that's a pretty little pen.... I gather from the writing sample that the nib has some flex to it.

Today so far it's been a vintage Parker Parkette, F-ish nib (finishing a fill of diluted Pelikan Royal Blue), and then finishing out my morning pages entry with the Poseidon Pearl Konrad, flex nib (and diluted Akkerman Dutch Masters Ceruleum Blauw von Vanmeer -- still deciding whether I like the color enough to warrant springing for a 120 ml of the stuff).

For the rest of the day it looks like it's going to be the new-to-me blue Cross Solo, B nib, to finish up my testing of Monteverde Horizon Blue; and the grey Parker 61 I snagged Sunday morning at the Ohio Pen Show a couple of weekend ago (with whatever black ink -- probably Quink Black -- which got reconstituted when I started to flush the capillary filler).

Hello all. Been a while.

My Noodler's safety pen arrived from Pure Pens today. Dropped some PH Martin's Bombay Black in it and pulled out some bristol paper. There are a few things about it to get used to, mostly regarding the retractable function, but overall I'm pretty pleased with it.

Today I'm using this Bexley Owner's Club 2017 flecked purple replica

(it's a replica made by Bexley themselves, in the sense that it's very similar to the OC 2017, but is not numbered or inscribed with the name of the OC year as Bexley usually does)

It's my one and only purple pen and I am liking it quite a bit

(usual Jowo nib, in M, which writes on the fine side of M, and very smooth)
