What Pen Are You Waiting For In The Mail 2018

Currently waiting for my new Online Switch in medium--probably Friday!

Also my first bottle of Mont Blanc ink--royal blue. Hope it's luxuriously smooth and wet.

Can anyone give me an objective review of the Switch? Reviews are pretty scarce on this one, though it seems to have a good reputation as a low priced pen. I'll post a comprehensive review when I get mine.

Now Im waiting for a WingSung 7363, a NAMISU, a Pilot Parallel Set and a Conklin Nighthawk Titanium. And then, for now, Im done buying pens.

(Will only break it with a Japanese music gold nib. But that’s for another time)

Please tell me that someone believed.

Oh, what nib width for your Nighthawk? I have a titanium in broad and I like it a lot. Can't go wrong with a Goulet Jowo nib. Super wet and smooth. Very chunky pen, even fatter than the 2nd gen Nighthawk carbon fiber, but posts better. Also, I've been toying with getting a Namisu for a while now--would love to hear your thoughts.

We are currently waiting for 2 Mooman 2. My husband wanted one, too  Unfortunately, they are still in transit according to tracking. I hate waiting!

Haven't actually bought it yet, but today I happened to see a Montegrappa Parola at a local store.

It will definitely make it into my collection in the next few months.

Apart from two pens I have purchased as gifts for other people, I am waiting for one of the Peyton Street Pen Works prototype pens with a medium cursive italic nib. I have one stub and one italic calligraphy pen in my collection and am interested in the experience a cursive italic will offer.

It's a good student pen; it's a no-nonsense, durable, and reliable pen. The stylus works well (with android and ios) and when using a short standard int. cartridges, you can store a spare in the barrel. The ink window looking thing ISN'T an ink window (I was fooled 😅). Ink flow is moderate (this depends on ink though) and the nib is smooth but really stiff (it bends down making it more rigid and beak-looking). The clip is okay but sometimes gets caught in certain materials (there's a little nub on the cap where the clip tip touches it). The snap cap seems more secure than a Lamy Safari, but it also loosens up with time.

There doesn't seem to be skipping or hard starting issues..no ink starvation either. It really is a pretty good pen for the price (if you care for its looks 😅).

Hope that helps 😊

As for what I'm waiting for in the mail: No incoming pens because I just purchased one from my sister and my wallet hasn't recovered 😂

Pelikan M805 Ocean Swirl in broad. This is a replacement for the pen I returned because of the completely random pattern between the cap and barrel. The good people at penchalet sorted the new pens and found a pen that lined up for me. Those guys have always been awesome! Usually I deal with Ron directly but this time talked with Braden who also was extremely helpful as well! The pen should be here tomorrow. I’ve been looking forward to this pen for a long time now. Super excited!

Someday the mountain might get em but the law never will.........

Finally pulled the trigger on the Lamy 2000. I'm not a huge fan of Lamy but I recently tried a friend's 2000 and just couldn't forget that writing experience...

It's coming from abroad though and I don't know how I'll wait out the +two weeks!

It (and the Pilot Vanishing Point) both feel like lazy cliches inside the fountain pen community, but as for myself I keep coming back to them. They're in hot circulation for a reason. And you really can't buy a better rounded pen than the L2K. So enjoy!

Waiting impatiently for a few (new to me) MBs that were calling my name. Why is it that I can't buy just one??? Worse than potato chips!

oh, and a Waterman Flash that I grabbed for a decent price. I'm not familiar with this Waterman, but who doesn't love a hooded nib?

Indeed it does. I DO like the looks--that and price were my primary purchase drivers. But I noticed the hook-down-edness of the nib like you mentioned, and it reminded me of the F-C WritINK, which I found scratchy and unpleasant and just didn't like at all. But, y'know, sometimes you gotta take a chance for $15.

MB 149, a late 1980s specimen, well used. I've never had any MB before, I figured, in for a penny, in for a pound...

I'm waiting for a Sheaffer Mini-Calligraphy set. It's like the No Nonsense of the 1980s only the barrel is the "Viewpoint" style. I'm buying to mainly to compare the nibs with my old NN nibs and also to see if a current Sheaffer converter will allow me to use my 80's nibs with the Viewpoint barrel. Blast me, but I somehow misplaced my No Nonsense pen somewhere and am currently trying to find a substitute. The prices for an actual NN from the 1980s are just too rich for my purse.

Perhaps I should also note that despite having bought the NN pen and extra nibs in the '80s as a teen, I've only just in the past month become attracted to fountain pens and ink in any serious capacity. So I apologize if my jargon is not up to snuff. If anything I wrote above doesn't make sense, I'll be happy to explain further as necessary. ;)

All in all, I think this forum is simply AMAZING and I'm extremely grateful to have found it and joined it.

Hello and welcome to the community!

About the Sheaffer No Nonsense, I've seen ebay auction selling one or a set of three for nice prices. So the NN always comes with stub nibs?

It's really a good a bargain for the price. Another tip, sometimes when there's ink in the cap, it transfers onto the stylus when you post the pen. I always wipe the stylus before I use it just in case 😅

I hope you enjoy your pen! Looking forward to reading your review 😊

A couple of things arrived this morning, small but somewhat significant.

A transparent red Jinhao 992, my last cheap chinese pen for now. Time to look at something a wee bit grander.

And my first 14K gold nib, for my Parker 45. Looks good in there, though it took a bit of tweaking. (Caveat emptor on the ol' fleabay...)
