Well, my red Parker 61 arrived yesterday amid all the snow chaos over here in Scotland and all seems well with it. I've started to flush out the capillary filler and am writing with a mix of water and the ink that was in the filler when it came.

Be prepared to continue to use the leftover in, re-flushing with water as needed, for a good long time.... My first one? I ran it for something like 4 months before the reconstituted ink got to the point of being too pale and watered down to be legible....

Wow, Ruth, four months, that's impressive! I'll be interested to see how long mine takes. I did blow out a bit of ink with a squeeze bulb when I first got it but it was only when I sucked up some water through the nib (again using the squeeze bulb) that my pen would start writing. It's still a hard starter and the nib needs wetting each morning to persuade it to start writing but thereafter it keeps going for the day. No doubt there is probably a lot of old ink in the collector and feed which will take a while to get rid of.

~ A gift fountain pen sent by my former student and long-time friend as a Lunar New Year present.

He's acquired it in Europe and is reshipping it to me from his home in Silicon Valley, California.

It will be a joy to open the package when it arrives later this month.

Currently awaiting two items: a Moonman M2 (EF), and a Lamy Vista (M).

Not sure how often I'll use the EF nib, but for that price I couldn't pass up the look of the pen.

The Lamy will get regular use. I intend to displace one of my currently filled F nibs from rotation when the next is empty.

I am not waiting for an Onoto 6235, nor an Onoto 6000, except to unpack them.

Do they ship them cross-country and back to get them to you, too? Sounds almost like Canada Post.

Just hit the order button last night for one of the resurrected French-made Parker Vectors: purple, with a M nib (since most of my other Vectors have F nibs). This will actually be my first French-made one (most of mine are UK production, except for the one that looks like a Mondrian painting -- that one was a US made Vector.

Yeah. A Vector. Don't judge. Mine have been little workhorses. Would I write the Great American Novel with one? Probably not -- they really are skinny. But they're pretty robust, come in a bunch of fun colors, and are great starter pens.

And this one is purple.... B)

Waiting for a Pilot Custom 74 in clear blue with a medium nib. Had terrific fun reading all of the earlier reviews, especially comparing Pilot's Custom 74 and Platinum's 3776. Went for the smoother ride. Looking forward now to the mail. ~M
