Kwz Ink Warsaw Dreaming (Sen O Warszawie)

KWZI recently released a trio of inks named after places in Poland. I think this trio is released partly in response to demands of sheeny inks. Personally I like ink with sheen, but it's not a requirement for good inks. For me, it's good flow and lubrication that are priorities.

The first one of the trio is Warsaw Dreaming, a black ink. If you do a swab you will notice it's not exactly black, but has a purple pink tone. I think Mrs KWZI said it was inspired by the night sky of Warsaw. In writing though it's really dark and black.

The flow and lubrication are amazing as can be expected from KWZI. Even with my dry Nakaya nib, it's smooth and wet, a joy to write with. Sheen-wise it has a "wet paint" kind of white sheen which reflects the light. If there's one thing I'm not quite satisfied with about this ink, it's the rather long dry time, probably due to the high saturation. In writing it dries rather slowly, but acceptable. If you use a heavy load of it for drawing, splashing, etc., expect a very long time for it to dry. Also it could be a bit difficult to tell whether it's totally dried, because the sheen makes it look like it's still wet (but it could have dried already).

Miscellaneous

(with water you can see the purple and pink tone of the ink.)

(a poor attempt at something Rothko-ish, with Vistula as background, Baltic on top and Warsaw at the bottom. Yes it's dried, even though it looks like wet.)

Cool. Can't wait to get mine. The Post Office is sending my package on an extra long journey.

Amazing sheen on the Warsaw Dreaming! I find that most sheening saturated black inks have long dry times, some can even remain smudgy if layed on very thick. Walk over Vistula is very nice as well.

Curious to know, what's the red ink on the comparison sheet?

These three don't seem to smudge when dried (unless with a moist finger of course). And that's KWZI Thief's Red.
