lol...super late to this discussion!

I was just gifted a gray M2 from my mother - it was the one she used in grade school!!

The nib was bent but I got in back mostly in shape? Glad to hear the other Esterbrook nibs will work -might see about getting 1 or 2

No the sexiest pen but I'm going to clean my Moms one up, maybe get a new nib and get it writing again.

Pretty sure I'll keep my eye open for these on ebay - I think some of the colours will be quite nice looking

I think you'll find the M2 to be a really nice Esterbrook.  I like the look and balance of them.

still a month or more away from having my mothers repaired M2 back - I might re-gift it to her for an upcomming birthday?

Since last check in I was able to procure a black M2 for myself ($40ish CAD or $30 USD shipping included)- just a 9550 nib - nothing too crazy like my moms!! (a 9128 EF Flexible- the better version apparently?)

I am liking the look and feel this pen and how it writes with the nib I currently have - especially since at work I tend to take notes in a pad with less than desirable  paper quality - this extra fine doesn't seem to blead or feather like some of my fines do. I will 100% keep my eyes open for the other colours and even for one of what appears to be millions of nib unit variations!!!

Still waiting on the repair to my mothers M2 but since sending it in I've picked up 2 M2s for myself (black and olive) - but one has the faintest hairline crack in the cap - is there a way to repair? any leads on replacement caps? (other than ebay?)

I have a handful of those cracked caps.  I don't think there's any practical way to repair them.  You can also look for a full M2 pen on eBay that has a trashed barrel, just to get the cap.

Well.....I received my Moms pen back with the nib fixed...a little underwhelmed.

Not sure what I was expecting from an "Esterbrook" steel flex nib (#9128)

I mean..it flexes yes - you do have to push though but you can get from .4 or .5 (so XF-F) to .8 or .9 (B) but it's not something that will flex as you write

Really glad I just paid for  a repair vs a replacement (half the price!) - to be honest I think I like my Esterbrook stub nib more
