Cellulose Acetate And Aluminum

Well,

This isn't as nice as the work everyone else posts, but I am happy with it, as is the new owner! It is my third fountain pen using vintage cellulose acetate. The finials and section are made from solid aluminum, turned by me on the metal lathe and final shaping and polishing done on the wood lathe. The nib is a #5 bock and the clip was purchased.

Sorry for the pic with the business card in it. I don't have a decent picture of the cap on without the card! Oh, and the fingerprints....

Thank you!

Material is vintage cellulose acetate which comes in tube form. Freestanding without metal tubes or support. The threading is done by me. The material is truly incredible.

Oh, regarding polish. I think it is the light making it seem not as polished, though it's aluminum so it does change slightly. The section isn't too slippery in my opinion, but I didn't write with it, so it may be!

Except for the metal section (I don't like metal sections. It is my personal preference.), this is a beautiful pen.

Congratulations.

Thank you.

Good point, and I think a lot of people don't care for them. I am not confident with adding decorative rings yet, particulalrly with cellulose acetate tubes which are on the thin side to begin with, so I was using the aluminum for accent pieces basically.

Once my skills improve and I start using rings I'll add those and use more traditional ebonite or other resins. It is sooooo much easier than aluminum, stainless steel and brass anyways.
