Halo - Ing Inks

Yes that could be an explanation.

Another thing I start to notice now is that the halo-ing inks all have a chromatography which has a sharp contrast at the end.

Oddly I didn't get any chromatograph effect, even though W&N Green contains really distinct and intense blue which likes to separate. I wasn't using it straight though, added a lot of water and some gum arabic. I ended up with a "dye" which took 40 minutes to dry, and had an exaggerated halo.

Thank you for these examples. I have 5 of the inks you featured if Waterman Havana Brown is the same as Absolute Brown.

Plus Diamine Turquoise that another thread identified as halo-ing.

Looking forward to trying these in the near future to see if I can get this effect.

I got a bottle of Diamine Turquoise, and put it in a Retro 51 with 1.1mm italic nib. It shows the outlining on Tomoe River paper and Leuchtturm 1917 notebook paper. That’s all I’ve tried it on. Very happy with the results. Outlining is the quality I’ll be chasing now.
