Good comparison much often talked about. Only when the two are next to each other is it plain enough. Apart from the darkness (blackness), the similarity is interesting, especially as far as price and availability are concerned!

Life is too short to drink bad wine (Goethe)

Already looking forward to it!

To me, Lie de Thé is a bit more orange, while Smoky Quartz is more gray. Both wonderful inks.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

+1

Lie de Thé is one of my favorites but Smoky doesnt excite me quite as much. Both well behaved though so color just comes down to personal preference.

I prefer Pelikan Edelstein Smoky (correct sp) Quartz as it comes in a bigger and much more user friendly bottle. The ink is a great colour and is also nicely saturated.

I love Lie de Thé. It is my number one brown. I keep trying new ones browns, but I've not yet found anything to beat it.

Yet another Sarah.

Thank you for your ink comparison! It is in my opinion important to look thoroughly. I personally prefer Lie de thé.
